Weymouth is the perfect destination all year round for either a short break or longer holiday.
The delightful 17th century harbour is one of the prettiest along the south coast. The fishing fleet sits in harmony with the visiting yachts that moor alongside the harbour walls. Fresh fish can be bought from the local fishmonger, housed in a fish market that was built in 1855. And some of the town's popular restaurants and pubs can be found amongst the historic buildings just minutes walk from Harbour Cove
The shopping has many top high street names as well as a good selection of smaller shops selling contemporary jewellery, household goods, clothing, shoes, gifts and much more.
There are RSPB reserves at Radipole Lake in the town centre and at nearby Lodmoor. Portland is another favourite spot for birdwatchers as the island is used as stopping off point for a wide variety of migrating birds. Walkers can take their pick from a gentle stroll along the promenade to a hike along the South West Coast Path, which offers wonderful views along this World Heritage coastline. Sport lovers can choose from a whole range of water sports: there are bowling clubs, leisure centres, fitness suites, golf courses and boat or shore fishing in addition to the more extreme sports of abseiling, rock climbing and pot holing. Family attractions offer
year-round fun for all the family.
The Weymouth area
The town's golden sands and safe, shallow waters are ideal for family fun or for an early morning stroll. During the summer months the traditional seaside attractions include July's Spirit of the Sea Maritime event and the annual Weymouth Carnival on Wednesday 21st August 2013, as well as seaside favorites donkey rides, Punch & Judy, merry-go-rounds and plenty of kiosks selling ice creams, candyfloss and cool drinks.
Harbour Cove overlooks the 2012 Olympic Sailing finish line (as seen on TV)
Throughout the year there are various spectator events for the water sport enthusiast.
Newton Cove and Gardens ( 5 mins) is ideal for exploring rock pools for marine life or relaxing in south facing seating having a picnic in the gardens (BBQ grills). Then stroll along the tree laden path to the Nothe Fort museum whilst feeding the squires

The house is a good size; 9 of us stayed and it was more than comfortable. Despite the bad weather we walked to the bay and the beach, both are close to the house. The house was very clean and the owners appear to be modernising it well. I think we will stay here again. |

The house looks good on the website but is better in reality. Fantastic location just 10 minutes stroll from the town. Situated at the end of a quiet residential cul de sac the coast path is a minutes walk away with great sea glimpses from the upstairs bedrooms at the back of the property. We stayed in February half term, the house was beautifully warm and there is plenty to do in the surrounding area. Plenty of space for our family to relax in the evening on the big corner sofa. The owner is friendly and helpful and responded very quickly to our enquiry. Would happily stay again and recommend to others. Great stay, thank you. |
