Church Ope Studio is on the Jurassic Coast path an area of outstanding natural beauty.

With its rolling countryside and mild climate, Dorset is a favourite location for holidaymakers. There are quiet villages and interesting local markets to explore as well as great walking, horse riding and fishing on the river Stour.

The New Forest is a great base for outdoor activities and the region is also home to Stonehenge and cities such as Bath, Salisbury and Bournemouth.

“A Hidden Treasure” We stayed at the studio for one week and found it to be a perfect base from which to explore the island. The location of the studio is perfect for the many walks that you can enjoy on Portland, and is just a short path away from the beautiful Church Ope Cove. The studio itself was very comfortable, cosy and spotlessly clean. It had everything we needed and was a lovely place to relax after our days out. We were also able to take our little dog with us, which was wonderful, and he was very comfortable there too. The owners are lovely and friendly, and it is nice to know that they are only next door if you need them. This place really is a hidden treasure and we hope to visit again soon.

“warm, comfortable and well equipped” you have done a great job with this small place enjoyed th ewifi and dvds. only negatives- found the cooker idfficult as no temperature numbers on the dials! Also shower a bit cold! otherwise very relaxing and cosy Response: Thank-you for your review - A few October/ November guests have experienced end of season glitches this year we think! Plumber has been in this week to optimise the new boiler serving the shower. Electricians have moved sockets around to make best use of kitchenette. New fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle,TV.... do come again and enjoy the unique location in another season - lovely in Springtime. Sheila and Douglas

“VERY COMFORTABLE FOR SLEEPING BUT .........................” Probably the most comfortable bed we have slept in with an excellent wet room and in a peaceful and convenient location but the studio has some shortcomings:- - it isn't as big as the photos would indicate and the views are not to be seen from the studio or its 'garden' which is overshadowed by surrounding trees - the cooking facilities are very limited (nb no oven) and not very well laid out, in particular the shortage of electrical sockets meant you were constantly having plug in and unplug items - microscopic TV & small not very comfortable settee - the parking is very difficult to access and depart from even for our smallish car Response: Thank-you for a detailed review. The new TV is now 26." The kitchenette has been redesigned and includes an oven as well as the microwave oven. The sea view is described on Church Ope Studio website as 'glimpsed through trees until leaf fall' The room dimensions are given too. The leather sofa is good quality and deep cushioned but it is a two seater so not that roomy. The bed as you say makes up for it! The Studio is designed as a comfy small retreat, with a large wet room to clean up after all those wild walks - It is right on the coast path.

“Cosy and comfortable studio in a great location” If you're visiting Portland this is a wonderful place to stay. The bed was so comfortable we wanted to bring it home with us! The shower room was really modern and the log burner ensured we were toasty on cold evenings. It's very close to the coastal path and local amenities. Would highly recommend!

“Cozy and very comfortable, nice location, friendly owner” We really enjoyed our stay in Church Ope Studio. The owners are very friendly and helpful yet not intrusive. The accommodation is cozy yet not too small, nice furnishings, comfortable and warm. Ideal location for coastal walks. Off the main road so had a countryside feel but walking distance to local shops and eateries. Short drive to mainland. Would love to go back one day, we have recommended this accommodation to family.

“Great studio - great location” Church Ope Studio is a great place for a long week-end, particularly suitable for couple and spaniel! Very comfortable bed within the studio, no separate room. The kitchen area has whatever equipment you need - but note, no oven (microwave and hob are fine). Two-seater settee is cosy, but there is always the bed or the seats around the eating table. Lovely modern shower/wet-room added a couple of years ago. You need to heed guidance on parking - in head-first, then back out when leaving! The studio is a few steps down path, under the shadow of the Rufus castle to the coastal path, fantastic views out to the sea, and with great walks either way, north towards the prison, via the stone quarries and south towards Portland Bill. An interesting 'island'. A welcome treat was the Dorset apple cake AND home-made marmalade!

“Cosy retreat on the coast at Portland” We have spent 2 holidays at the Studio August and March both seasons of the year the walks on the cliff path have so much to offer as the studio does. Cosy and well equiped is the norm. We recommend any time of the year is ideal fore the studio and surrounding countryside.

“This is a fantastic place to stay.” This was the second time I had stayed at Church Ope Studio. I will be there again in the future. It is cosy, very comfortable and has everything one needs and more as regards self catering. Great atmosphere, comfortable bed and this time there was a new wet-room/shower room. I was initially drawn to stay there because of its close proximity to Chuch Ope Cove as this is such a special place for me. It's a good base to explore the island.
