Cottage | 5 bedrooms | sleeps 8
Bridge View boasts beautiful views of the harbour where you can watch the town bridge open and close to let the yachts into the inner marina which is fascinating for young and old alike. You can hear the gentle clink of the boats as they take a snooze before their next adventure out to sea.
The whole area offers magic through all the seasons with so many places to see and romantic places to explore. On balmy summer evenings you can buy a glass of wine outside in the colourful nearby Hope Square, on cold winter days you can huddle inside one of the many pubs that offer open fires and a friendly atmosphere. You have a choice of high-class restaurants, good pub food, Italian styled bistros or numerous fish restaurants. Quiet moments in the nearby Nothe gardens looking across to Portland harbour are a relaxing past time. Children will love building sandcastles on the main beach (4 minutes walk) which has shallow bathing waters, or rock pooling at Newton's Cove (4 mintues walk).
Bridge View is so well placed that there is no need for a car to access the beach or town. However, if you wish to venture out for a real flavour of rural Dorset, visit one the picture postcard villages where you will be able to enjoy a traditional Dorset Cream Tea or locally made ice creams.

The West Country region
Dorset is a county with lots to offer, from astounding natural landmarks such as the World Heritage Jurassic Coast, the beautiful Golden Cap and the popular natural cove at Lulworth to the lively seaside towns of Weymouth, Swanage and Lyme Regis. A week (or longer) self catering holiday in Dorset gives you the time to really soak up the history, feel and beauty of the region, taste the fine local cuisine and enjoy a break from the hectic pace of town or city life.
Weymouth is one of the most popular seaside destinations in the UK. Its well known esplanade and sandy beach stretches for two miles and the town is famous for offering a traditional seaside holiday to visitors. It was also chosen to host the 2012 Olympic sailing events.
