The South East Ireland region
County Wexford, blessed with the warmest and sunniest climate in Ireland, is situated along Ireland’s East coast.
For holidays in Ireland, Wexford, as well as boasting over 115 km of golden coastline, also has a long and rich history as it was the first place of landing for many invaders.
Wexford stands proud of its heritage of which is evident as you explore the county.
Most of the countryside is low lying; however the Blackstairs Mountains are a spectacular mountain range that run along the neighbouring border of County Carlow.
Its beautiful river valleys are a safe haven for relaxing Ireland holidays or if it’s activity holidays you’re looking for then Wexford will not disappoint.

"Dream Holiday Home"
I booked this house for a week's stay with my daughters aged 22 and 19, my 2 year-old grandson and my 79 year old mother in law, who has relatives living nearby in Rosslare and Wexford.
The location of the house is ideal for getting to and from the ferry, being only 20 minutes away. The setting is beautiful, with narrow lanes, green fields and the sea visible from the house and only a few minutes away. The wind farm, in a field behind the house is a good landmark, and there was no noise at all. Every morning my grandson would greet the turbines with, 'Hello windmills!' The only noise was the occasional moo from the cows in the field next-door, and the cheeping from the baby house martins nesting with their parents in the roof above the balcony.
The house itself is amazing: spacious, comfortable, beautifully decorated and well-equipped. The upstairs of the house is almost a self-contained apartment with a master bedroom, dressing room, bathroom, kitchen, lounge and dining room. It's Ideal accommodation for extended family who want a bit of space away from the rest of the house. The downstairs bedrooms, a double and a twin, are less lavish but just as pleasant and comfortable. The whole house has a lovely atmosphere and although we spent quite a lot of time out and about during our stay, it was lovely to come 'home' each day.
The huge green lawn outside, safely enclosed by the biggest stone wall I've ever seen, was perfect for my grandson to run around on, and he and both my daughters loved jumping on the large trampoline.
The owners of the house, Geraldine and Ray, were brilliant. They met us at the house on our arrival and showed us around. They provided a folder with lots of ideas and tips for places to visit and eat, as well as leaving a lovely welcome pack of goodies in the kitchen. They even borrowed and delivered a baby buggy for us when we realised we'd forgotten ours, which saved us a lot of hassle and expense.
In all, a fantastic place to stay and as a base for visiting the area. The house was loved by all four generations of our family, yes even the mother-in-law, and we would all love to return in the future.
