This luxurious Log cabin is Set in the majestic Partry and Maumtrasna mountains. It is a beautiful Self-catering lodge ideal for families, hunters, fishermen and women,horse riding, golfers, walkers and cyclists. It is an ideal retreat for romantics who just want to curl up beside a log fire enjoying a good book or a glass of wine or for business people to get together for corporate getaways.
It is a Great location for city dwellers who want to get away from it all and unwind or outdoor enthusiast's who want to be in the heart of the Connemara mountains yet only ten minutes from the nearest town of Westport or forty minutes from Clifden and sixty minutes to Galway city. The beautiful Killary harbour is a mere ten minute drive away .Ideally suited for two families, with wide open spaces for kids to roam around and explore the natural surroundings.

The North West Ireland / County Mayo region
This beautiful unspoilt part of Connemara is the ideal getaway location for those who want to unwind and forget about it all for a while. After staying here you will not want to go back to the city. For those of you who like driving we are in the heart of the most beautiful scenery in the world. This area is truly unique as it is the only place in Europe that a blanket bog (peat) exists. The Irish hare ,red grouse, butterflies, dragonflies, spiders live in these blanket bogs which are 10,000 years old. It is also used as a form of heat , after it is cut and dried. It has an unusual relaxing smell when burning. This part of Mayo is surrounded by mountains, lakes and ocean. It caterers for all kinds of activities. So if you want to relax and read a good book or go bungie jumping its all here at our doorstep
Westport / Erriff area
The Erriff river is only 100m away from the lodge and is renowned for salmon fishing . The bustling town of Westport is just 15km away and is one of the best towns in Ireland for entertainment, good food, leisure facilities and home to Matt Molloy's pub of the Chieftains. There is an annual music festival held in August and an arts festival in October. In the other direction there is the quaint village of Leenane renowned for the making of the film 'The Field'. It is located on the Killary Fjord the only Fjord in western Europe. Leenane has good pubs and restaurants. An annual curragh race takes place every July weather permiting. The medieval village of Aughagower is only 8km away and is where St Patrick passed through on his way to Croagh Patrick. It has a tenth century round tower and an old graveyard and is a great place to start looking for long lost relatives from this area. Ballintuber Abbey is where the St Patrick walk starts and is 30min away.Sea angling can also be arranged please enquire with owner. There are two adventure centres 8 miles away catering for all who want to use up some energy. Local attractions are salmon fishing on the Erriff River (August was the best month in 2008),hillwalking, road and mountainbiking,birdlife and plants . Set amonst surrounding mountains , sheep and cattle graze nearby .Croagh Patrick Ireland's holy mountain is only a stones throw away and there is a local pub just 800metres away. The mountain range in this area is truly remarkable and majestic as the colours change from hour to hour with the different light. There is a famine monument twenty minutes away in memory of those who died on their way to Delphi looking for food in 1847. Nearer at hand is a monument for one of the last ambushes by the IRA against the Black and Tans during the Irish War of Independance in 1921
How to get there
The nearest airport is Knock airport, 60km(50min) with direct fligthts from Britain and main land Europe with Ryan Air, and other airlines .All major car hire companies have a base here. It is a very convenient way to get to Eaglewoodlodge please check directions on map. Dublin airport is 3.5 hrs. Shannon airport is 2hr, Galway airport is 1hr. Belfast airport is 4hrs. The nearest ferry is Dublin or Belfast but you can also get a ferry to Cork, or Roslare. You can also get the train from Dublin to Westport . Further details indoors: Eaglewoodlodge was designed and built by the owner in 2004 and has wonderful views overlooking the Partry and Maumtrasna mountains to the south and the Sheffry mountains to the west . It is an open plan lodge with riverstone fireplace and rustic log furniture especially the king size log beds. It has a beautiful interior with leather seating and log furniture and local and not so local artifacts found on my travels. An American style jukebox with over one thousand songs is a great attraction for most people. Most of the photographs on display are by the owner ,if you would like to purchase one then please ask and we can have it ready for you on your departure. The kitchen comes equipped with olive oil, cooking oil, suger salt and pepper, most spices that you need and a good selection of cook books. We have a vegetable and herb garden that you can avail off. The utility room has washing powder for clothes.
Further details outdoors: Walking the western way, fishing on the Erriff, Moy, Clew Bay, Achill, Lough Mask, Lough Conn. There is an18hole championship golf course in Westport. You can enjoy both mountain and road cycling with breathtaking scenery ,hunting, wildlife, horse riding ,scuba diving . The house sits on 20acres of meadow with ample room to wander around looking at the abundance of wildlife on offer. There is a gas and charcoal bbq and outdoor furniture available for those that want to entertain outdoors.The house is adjacent to a working farm where sheep and cattle graze nearby, we are currently looking for a pot belled pig and a goat for your entertainment . Jimmy the resident cat shows up in the evenings for dinner .

Conditions
Strictly no smoking in house accept on balcony. Certain pets are allowed please enquire. Pets are not allowed to be left unattended in the house at any time, go into bedrooms or lie on furniture. Please bring all necessary bedding, towels etc for your pet. Any damage or extra cleaning involved will be chargeable. Fouling on the grounds must be cleaned up immediately. .
Refundable breakages deposit of €400 is required on arrival , refunded on departure after inspection €200 deposit required to reserve the lodge Balance payable 8 weeks prior to arrival . If you would like us to have food or items bought for you on your arrival then let us know and we can arrange it. We have fresh fish for sale in the summer including scallops, mussels, whiting, haddock etc
The property is provided with a mobile (cellular) phone, which operates on a pay as you go basis.
