The Westport area
CROAGH PATRICK: Irelands holy mountain has been a sacred place for almost 5,000 years. The most popular ascent is from Murrisk, but an alternative route from Kilsallagh is worth exploring, but only for the fit, experienced, and well equipped walker.

WESTPORT GOLF CLUB: The local club is a prestigious championship course, which has hosted the Irish Close Championship and the ladies Home Internationals. It is accommodating for the average player, while also providing a tough challenge for the low handicap golfer. It is beautifully situated on the shores of Clew Bay and has a well appointed clubhouse.
SHORE ANGLING: There is excellent shore angling all around Clew Bay and enthusiasts will find opportunity in the immediate vicinity of Kilsallagh, including: Old Head Pier, Lecanvey Pier, Bearta Strand, Roonagh Quay.

Guestbook for Sea Meadow
We had three wonderful weeks in the Sea Thrift house. The previous year we had had two days as part of our honeymoon and fell in love with this magical place under Croagh Patrick and across from Clew Bay. We vowed to return and for longer. As K is close to P in the alphabet, so is Kilsallagh close to Perfection. The house is beautiful inside and out: comfortable, spacious, and light-filled. Every window brings beautiful views to eat by, drink by, read by, and dream by. The variety of walks nearby is remarkable: mountains, rolling hills, beaches, bogs, woodland, small harbours, and country lanes. The fact that Louisburgh is 5 minutes in the car and Westport 15, means that you are close enough to ‘facilities’ without them impinging on your sense of being ‘away from it all’ in a cocoon of silence broken only by birdsong, bleating sheep and the occasional tractor. (Well, we did also listen to music and watch some of the World Cup!). We loved every moment of our time there and were inconsolable on our last day. Well not quite ‘inconsolable’ as what we did to console ourselves was ring up and book it for another three weeks next summer!
" We loved everything about this light-filled holiday home. The house has a lovely open fireplace, a well-equipped open kitchen and corner windows to emphasize the glorious views of Clew Bay. The roomy bedrooms were very comfy and outside, the garden is big enough for kids of all ages to run wild! We walked to Old Head Beach for our swims and took the ferry (a 15 minute drive) to Clare Island for a great day out.
The brave among us climbed Croak Patrick, the rest of us settled into the pub to wait for them! And Westport with its great cafes and restaurants and pubs filled with music is only 12 miles away. Our family couldn't think of any better holiday."
"An ideal place"
"Incredible views -- on one side, Croagh Patrick; on the other, Clew Bay. Convenient to Westport and Louisburgh for shopping/dining, yet retains a countryside feel. Above all, a beautifully designed cottage
-- appealing on every level, both aesthetic and practical. Great folks and and great value, too."
Our second time in the cottages and I am certain we will be back again!..Some wonderful walks - we loved Silver Strand. We will miss those views of the ocean and mountains each day when we have our breakfast! Thanks to Bruce for looking after us and the welcome pack.
Great House, amazing beaches, good weather. What more could you ask for! Hope we will be back.
