The Saint James Parish region
St James has a beautiful coastline with the calmest waters (most of the time!). Ideal for swimming , snorkelling, water skiing, and kids' toys (banana, chariot rides etc ). A catamaran cruise is a must .Occasionally when the sea is up the surfing can be great . There are numerous restaurants in Holetown , less than 3 miles away and the quaint old town of Speightstown, 2 miles to the north, has some nice shops and a very nice museum.
It is only a 20 minute drive up into the centre of the Island which is green, hilly and rugged in places, and onto the East Coast, which is totally different, with Atlantic swells and deserted beaches.
Beautiful beaches and lots of watersports activities. The house is situated in a quiet local area only 6 mins walk down to the very lovely St Albans / Carlton beach. You can then walk north along the sand to Gibbs beach and then onto the quite famous Mullins Beach where you can stop for a beer or a very nice lunch. The local buses run often from the bottom of the road and only cost $2 whether you go one stop or all the way to Oistens .There are a couple of local shops where you can get the basics and ther are good supermarkets in both Holetown and Speightstown.

"We didnt want to come home!"
From our arrival on the 22nd February to our departure on the 12th March Sue made us so very welcome. She greeted us and explained everything about the house, and she also had two lovely dogs who were so well behaved, Ruby and Gypsy. The house was smart, very clean and had everything in it for a very comfortable holiday. Even an extensive video and DVD library as well as a large collection of good books. The local beaches were very clean with safe bathing and not crowded. There are many restaurants around the area and we can recommend Seacats in Holetown and Island Plates in Speightstown. Out of the Blue was so close to the nearest beach (5 minuites walk) that there was no need to hire a car and the local buses go to Speightstown and Holetown in less than 10 minutes either way. We were able to have bbq's there in the very pretty tropical garden and there are sun loungers available in the shade. The verandah was lovely and shady for outdoor dining and also kept the short showers off us. We were grateful for the use of the washing machine and all other equipment which was in the house. There was nothing that was lacking. We made many excursions out on the buses (only $2 each wherever you go) and went shopping in Bridgetown a few times (try Abed's for fabulous fabrics).
We will definitely be staying with Sue and Junior again, if they have any spare dates! It was our third visit to Barbados and it has become our most favourite holiday destination of all. We live in Spain so we are fairly discerning of our holiday venues.
