"An excellent week at The Wilderness"
The house is very well equipped for catering for large groups, we love cooking!
We stayed with a group of 18, aged from 5 weeks old to 80 years old and had a lovely week.
The Wilderness is comfortable, cosy, clean and very well maintained.
We made good use of the sauna, great fun and easy to use. The garden is well maintained too and would be perfect for BBQ's when the weather allows.
The owners are very helpful and always very prompt to reply to any enquiries.

"Great place to stay for a lovely weekend in the counrty"
As a group of 15 girls on a hen party, it's not always that easy to find somewhere to stay that offers decent bedrooms, plenty of bathrooms, a good size dining room that can fit everyone in and everything else I was looking for. But The Wilderness offered all of those things, it was super clean and organised, plenty of parking, a beautiful big garden with sauna and close to a great city.
Jo, who took our booking, was exceptional. Super helpful, friendly, always contactable, and knowledgeable. She took all the stress of finding taxis, and additional services for the hen party.
It's just a shame we'd only booked 3 nights! We were so busy that unfortunately we didn't get to use the sauna, or go to the local pub and explore the area!
This place is definitely worth a stay, especially for a hen do! Thanks so much for making our weekend awesome.

"Ideal for Large Groups"
As a group of 6 mums and 11 children between the ages of 2 and 10, it can be difficult to find the ideal accommodation. The Wilderness was perfect as it has lots of space both indoors and outdoors.
The house is well spaced out with a separate living room that we termed the 'adults' lounge, complete with log fire. It's nice to find a place with a dining room big enough to seat all of us and I have never come across a kitchen as well stocked as this one. What a change never to be running out of clean crockery.
We booked Di to come in and cater for the adults one evening and this worked perfectly. The food was delicious and Di was a fabulous hostess.
We had a truly fabulous stay and would recommend it to larger groups. Furthermore the owners could not have been more helpful or welcoming.

"Ideal venue for a family get-together"
We booked The Wilderness for a family gathering of 14 people - ages ranging from 3 to 80.
The house was cosy, comfortable and ideal for our needs. The huge table in the conservatory sat us all easily and comfortably for Dinner - while the small table in the large kitchen enabled people to drift in and out and fend for themselves at breakfast time. The TV room was spacious, and comfortable while the lounge with an open fire provided a relaxing, cosy, and equally comfortable alternative. The beds weren't the most comfortable in the world, but the rooms were well appointed and everyone seemed to sleep well enough. The house has two separate heating systems (one for the main house and one for the annexe). The boiler in the house stopped working on our last evening, but this didn't cause any problems and the owners had someone out fixing it the following day. The house has great charm and is a relaxing and comfortable base for a family gathering. It is nicely appointed without being overly formal. Bath is a short train journey away for a great day out and there are nice walks in the area.

"Fantastic venue for a hen do"
If you're looking for a venue for a hen weekend away, this cottage is perfect! I booked the cottage for a party of 18 for my sister's hen do and I couldn't have asked for more. The sauna was a massive hit and was very easy to use, even after a few glasses of bubbly! The cottage had everything we needed and the option of being able to book transport for our night out in Bath was a God-send, it meant I could relax while the lovely Jo did all the hard work. Jo was always on the other end of the phone whenever I needed help or advice. Without Jo's help, organising the hen do would have been a million times more stressful, highly recommended!

"An incredible weekend with a gang of friends at the perfect location."
13 of us spent a ( mostly) grown up hen weekend at the Wilderness. Unpretentious, well equipped home from home with great service and communication from the very friendly owners. We were lucky to have great weather so enjoyed the beautiful garden well into the evening. Highly recommended.

"Extremely warm welcome and a lovely house"
The Wilderness was perfect for our group of 16 close friends and 7 toddlers. The house was spacious enough that we didn't feel on top of each other, while at the same time feeling warm and cozy.
The garden was perfect for the children to run around in safely and the sauna was a real treat for the adults.
The house was extremely well supplied and incredibly clean. I would highly recommend the Wilderness to any large group.
