We were welcomed with a basket containing fresh eggs and a jar of home-made marmalade. Our first impressions on this our second visit were just the same as the first time a year previously. The Cottage was spotlessly clean with all home comforts & utensils provided. There are ample storage facilities. The 3 rooms are light & airy with a new bathroom layout this year. The views from the many windows are stunning across open wheat fields and distant woodland.
The location is ideal for exploring Sussex being only about a half mile from the main A24 Horsham to Worthing road but apart from a little unobtrusive road noise you would not know it was so near. Care needs to be taken when approaching or leaving the A24 as traffic moves very fast in this part of the world.
There are many footpaths going directly from the cottage in four directions. The wild life seen this year in the area with a visiting young roe deer buck seen on a few occasions and a woodpecker with young. Sparrows are breeding in abundance around the property and are a delight to watch from the garden bench. This is provided with cushions and a large sun umbrella and is situated in a well tended garden.
Gatwick Airport is some 25 miles distant and the garden bench provides ideal aircraft spotting opportunities for the interested. The aircraft noise is very low at all times with very little night flying. Star gazing is also good from this location as there is little or no light pollution.
The weather this year was perfect, but if it was inclement, as it was last year, there are still plenty of things to do within a reasonable distance. We didn't travel more than 35 miles on any day out from here during our 2 week stay. An excellent Park & Ride operation outside Horsham takes you easily to Horsham and the Station within an hours fast train ride into London Victoria at a reasonable off-peak cost. Free Bus passes then come into full use.
The least - good feature about this excellent converted barn is the sloping roof over the kitchen sink which gets in the way of one's head until you quickly learn where to stand whilst washing up the pots!!
There is a Wi-Fi signal but the speed is so low it is hardly usable. If you need it then our advice is to take your own system.
The owners live adjacent so any complaints, if you had any, could be quickly dealt with.
If it wasn't good would we have returned for a second time and booked a third slot?
We don't think so!

"Idyllic rural W Sussex location, spotless accommodation!"
We have stayed at The Hayloft twice and hope to be staying again later this year. It is situated in a beautiful rural W Sussex location, ample parking for two cars and is ideal for two, sharing a very comfortable bed in a well furnished bedroom and flat. The accommodation is always spotless, and the up-grade of a new bath/ shower perfect. The use of a wet room/ washer/ dryer downstairs is a huge plus. We absolutely love our times at The Hayloft!
