The Cowshed is one of 4 cottages grouped around a courtyard garden that belong to At the Farm on the Knowle Estate. The cottage has a fresh, stylish interior with a retro/contemporary feel. It sleeps 4 in two bedrooms-one double and one twin, both with fitted wardrobes. A Z bed can be added at an additional cost of £20 and a cot and high chair are available-no charge for these. The open plan living dining area comfortably seats four and has a flag stone floor and woodbuner, a flat screen TV and DVD player and wi-fi. The bathroom has a bath with shower over and glass shower screen and there is a well equipped kitchen with cooker, fridge/freezer, washing machine and microwave. All bedding and linen provided.

Outside -this cottage has its own private graveled area with table, chairs and BBQ. There is ample parking, a children's play area with swing set, slide and trampoline as well as forty acres of organic farmland to explore.

The Estate and its farmhouse were created in 1350 and was originally owned by Glastonbury Abbey. It rests comfortably in one of those hidden valleys of rural Somerset where the only traffic noise you'll ever hear is the clip clop of the occasional horse or perhaps the postman's van. Set in the rural centre of the triangle that is formed by Wells, Shepton Mallet and Glastonbury, The Cowshed will welcome you and your family to a comfortable country retreat which you can use to relax or as a base to explore the interesting surrounding area.

There are many wonderful attractions within striking distance of the estate. You can marvel at the magnificent cathedral in England's smallest city, Wells, or find that undiscovered Canaletto at the famous antique markets held at the Royal Bath and West showground several times a year. This part of Somerset is steeped in history with Glastonbury one of the nearest and most famous points of interest. Legend has it that King Arthur was buried in the Abbey and there is certainly something mysterious about the place and a climb up theTor, which you can see from the estate, will not be forgotten. In the neighbouring village of Pilton other legends perform to a vast and appreciative crowd and the Glastonbury Festival has worldwide fame.

Wookey Hole Caves and Longleat are both within easy reach and famous centres for all the family to enjoy. There are probably too many pubs and restaurants to choose from. These will vary from the back of beyond spit and sawdust Somerset cider houses with shove-halfpenny boards and strange sounding locals to Farrow and Ball gastro delights serving fine fresh cooked feasts with wine to match. We'll be happy to point you in the right direction for your particular pallet and pocket.

So whether it's a long or short holiday, a visit to one of the local schools or a stop over on business, At the Farm will provide the accommodation you need.

"Lovely location, superb apartment, very helpful owner. Thank you for a wonderful weekend."

We stayed here for a friends wedding, long weekend. Perfect choice for us with our toddler. Lisa was very helpful with local information. Great little extras in the apartment, very clean. The surrounds are beautiful and lovely grounds to walk around in. We would stay again.

"Fantastic, can't wait to return!"

A beautiful, cosy cottage, perfect for our family of 3 to get away from it all. Great location for Wells, Longleat, Cheddar etc with big supermarkets 15 minutes away. Poor/ non existent mobile signal … More

Thank you! We look forward to welcoming you back (with wifi booster in place). Best wishes and very pleased you enjoyed your stay.

"Awesome!!!"

Had a wedding to attend in Shepton Mallet and needed place to stay for the weekend. Firstly the accommodation is first class, a beautiful old farm and converted outbuildings at the end of a little country road. Located in the bottom of a picturesque valley with footpaths leading off in all directions eager to be explored. We stayed in a cottage called the Cow Shed. The finish of the accommodation is top, and it was a great place to shake off the hectic-ness of a beautiful wedding. We were fortunate enough to stay during a rather sunny weekend, but the cottage had a big log burner and I was a little disappointed it was too warm to justify getting it going. Lisa and her husband are both easy and flexible to deal with, they have a couple of labs (dogs) that are fantastic and will gladly come over for fuss if you ask nicely. The farm is far enough away from the local towns of Shepton Mallet and Wells that you feel like you have retreated to the wilderness but close enough not to feel isolated from world, 5-10 mins to the local town centre if that. Would I stay there again, definitely and look forward to doing so.

5 STARS from me, they could have 6 if I could select another ;) We had a brilliant and awesome weekend!

"Cosy get away"

Lovely clean and cosy cottage, which was perfect for our needs. With 2 teenage boys we didn't feel cramped and were being able to sit comfortably in the living/dining room. The wood burner was a added bonus not only did it keep us warm but made us feel very at home. Unfortunately it was too cold to sit outside, as there was a private corner with a bench and seating which I can imagine to be very pleasant during warm summer evenings. Although the property is adjoined the layout means you don't get that sensation of being on top of your neighbour. The only slight negative is that it is in a fairly remote location, which is great because it is peaceful, but there is no pub/shops within walking distance. A car is therefore essential. The owner was very welcoming and friendly.
