"Just 36 steps to spectacular views"

The effort of taking your luggage up the steps is rewarded with dramatic views of sand, cliffs and sea. You can relax outside to soak up the sights or get the same from the comfort of indoors.Watchin… More

yes, there's good people-watching as they move to and from the beach or fly kites or career down the shingle slopes - and Lyme Bay spreads out in the background. Thanks so much for your positive comments!

"Unbeatable location and views"

A great place to stay! The steps up to the property were never an issue. The house is basically but comfortably furnished and as the weather was great most evenings were spent on the patio overlooking… More

Thank you for making the effort to write this review - and it is really gratifying when the house and the increasing number of local amenities are appreciated and evidently taken in a positive spirit. Yes - the X53 to Weymouth [and Lyme Regis/Exeter in the other direction] must be one of the best Top Deck experiences in the country and they run every hour! So glad you enjoyed your week so much.

We have been holidaying in Dorset for the last seven years, and on each visit we always take our dog down to West Bay most days of a two week holiday, but this year we found this property to rent, It … More

"Beautiful location"

We stayed at The Steps for a week with our two dogs in April and had a fabulous time even though the weather was pretty poor. The view from the house is stunning, the house itself is fairly basic but had everything we needed and was clean and warm. West Bay is a lovely place and the West Bay Hotel is great for food. Booked again for Sept hoping the weather might be a little kinder! The house has 36 steps up to it but you soon get used to it.

"Very pleasant retreat"

We stayed in at "The Steps" for the week before Easter and thouroughly enjoyed the location. West Bay and the surrounding coastal area (Weymouth to Lyme Regis) is very quiet during this period which makes the experience even more fun.
The cottage is well maintained with all the gadgets and untensils you can think of.
The high situation is great and surprisingly private considering the constant walking traffic
up and down the cliff path just 30 yards away.
Lovely overview of West Bay beach and harbour (the beach & the cliff mentioned above is where the 1970's sitcom titles for "The fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin" was filmed).
Only reason did not rate as excellent is that the beach-side patio grass area had an old angle iron fence post protruding from the bank at ground level which my 10 year old discovered with his left buttock. Only minor injury luckily and I have informed owner that it must be removed or at least angle ground well below ground level as a matter of urgency which he has assured me will be done. Next occupants were left a note and I marked the post for the time being so don't be put off. Just be aware.
Overall - a lovely visit.

"Perfect location looking over the sea!"

We (5 adults) spent a week in this lovely location. The house was extremely comfortable and had just about everything including absolutely spectular views over the sea. It was so relaxing to hear th… More
