Home description

In the heart of the smallest city in England, this period Georgian cottage offers an ideal base for sampling the delights of Wells and exploring the beautiful surrounding countryside. The end house in a row, it has been completely renovated to a high standard and unusually for a city property has a lovely, peaceful, mature garden.

Apart from the magnificent cathedral (housing one of the earliest mechanical clocks in existence and Vicars Close-the oldest continuously inhabited medieval street in Europe). Wells is a beautiful market town offering a range of cafes/bars/pubs/restaurants and some lovely shops. Wells itself is within easy reach of Bristol, Bath and the limestone based Mendip Hills-offering attractions such as Bristol Zoo, the haunted Wookey Hole Caves, The Roman Baths, Cheddar Gorge, the SS Great Britian, Clifton Suspension Bridge, fantastic shopping and so much more!

Wells area

Wells is a bustling, beautiful market town with magnificent cathedral. The square outside the cathedral has often been the set for filming period dramas. The Bishop's Palace adjacent to the cathedral has a moat and arboretum. From the cathedral is a walk through via Beggars porch to the lovely, cobbled Georgian town square where there is a market twice weekly and are some interesting shops, cafes etc. Wells also has a cinema, leisure centre, nightclub, and many pubs and restaurants. The Mendip Hills surround Wells offering lovely walks, views, gorges, caves, etc.
