The West Country / Somerset region
Somerset is a county alive with history, from Wells, the smallest city in England with a magnificent Cathedral to dozens of historic towns & villages, each with a special story to tell like the mysterious Glastonbury, burial place of King Arthur.
Somerset also, when literally translated means 'Land of the Summer People' and is a county which has been famous for centuries for its fruits of the land. This is the home of Cheddar cheese (which you can still see being made today in Cheddar Gorge just a short drive from the apartment) and Somerset apple orchards grow in abundance producing the famous West Country brew of Cider. There's even an Apple Brandy produced locally called Somerset Royal
The Farmers Market in Wells is an ideal place to try local produce direct from the supplier.
Wells area
There are endless things to do and see for children and adults of all ages. To name just a few Cheddar Caves & Gorge, Wookey Hole Caves, Glastonbury Abbey & the Chalice Well Gardens, Cider Mills, vineyards, East Somerset railway, Fleet Air Arm Museum, Longleat Wildlife park.
There are several excellent restaurants and gastopubs within a 10 minute drive (or taxi ride). Reviews and details on all are at the apartment.
When you book we will email you a comprehensive info pack including directions to the apartment and guides to local attractions, shops, restaurants, golf courses, horse riding, rugby , shooting etc etc.
