Our Wookey House offers modern luxury with all the charm of an old building and small countryside village.
Outside you will find a flat, level tarmac parking area with one designated parking space with a walk of a few metres to the front door. More free shared parking is available on School Hill. Up two small steps and through the front door to tiled entrance lobby. In the lobby you will find a cupboard to hang coats and store boots, and as the boiler is here wet weather gear dries wonderfully well. The Dog/welly shower is stored in here and just needs attaching to the outside tap just to the left of the front door.
From the lobby you have easy access straight into each bedroom and bathroom, making it a simple task to unload the luggage, children and dogs from the car!
In bedroom one you choose the layout – we can make it a twin room with 2x 3’ single beds or one super kingsize for those couples who prefer the extra space; please make sure you specify when you book. In addition you have a wardrobe with hanging, shelves and drawers and a pile of fluffy towels, 2 per guest.
In bedroom two to your right you will find a very comfortable double bed, a large wardrobe with hanging and drawers, a suitcase stand and fresh fluffy towels for your stay.
In the main bathroom you will find a bath, shower, basin and wc with bath mat and hand towels provided. We have a night light plugged in to the lobby making night
time trips to the bathroom that little bit easier and safer.
Down the stairs you will find the main living area plus a small cloakroom which saves you running up and down!
In the main open plan living area simple design, classic style and warm oak flooring give this room an open, sunny and relaxing feel with a touch of luxury for your break away. The Lounge area with leather furniture and chic floor stools makes for a comfortable sit down-with windows and patio doors to the sunny courtyard garden.
The kitchen has a fridge, gas hob & oven and dishwasher and is full of quality equipment for you to enjoy making simple meals at breakfast or more lavish dinners should you decide to stay in. You will find a larder cupboard full of basics such as pepper/salt, oil, herbs etc so that you can enjoy your cooking, and with a large dining table you will have plenty of room to spread out with friends and family. We hope you enjoy our home as much as we do!
Further details outdoors:
In the courtyard garden you will find a charcoal BBQ, tropical plants, and comfortable garden furniture for you to enjoy a little slice of heaven in the evening sunshine.
You will also find card and board games, local guide books and maps and a few extra books for you to use and enjoy during your stay.

Enquire nowThe West Country / Somerset region
Described by the ancient Welsh Celts and the Saxons as the Land of the Summer People, Somerset is a county of captivating contrasts.
Its coast takes in long sweeping sandy beaches, seaside resorts, harbours and marinas, and the dramatic Exmoor coastline.
Venture inland to an epic countryside of protected landscapes, rolling hills, wild moorlands, ancient woodlands and wetland habitats, dotted with historic towns and villages.
At the heart of what makes Somerset tick is its' distinctive culture and history that includes willow and cider making, great local food & drink, the legends of Kings Arthur and Alfred and much more.
The Wells / Wookey Hole area
The Wookey House is set in an area rich in nature, and bursting with culture and history. Set in the historic village of Wookey Hole where footpaths lead from your door to the beauty of the Mendip Hills and Ebbor Gorge. Just a couple of miles from Britain's smallest city, a couple more to the exotic gem that is Glastonbury, and where the corner of every country lane hides another idyllic village.
If Kent is the Garden of England, then Somerset is the field behind the wall at the bottom of the garden, just waiting for you to hop over and explore it's fields, lanes and villages, and where the pace of life is kept to a gentle stroll.
The countryside is all around you, rich in wildlife and easily accessable. No visit to the area would be complete without an adventure into the Caves in Wookey Hole, a climb up to the top of Glastonbury Tor, a visit to the extraordinary scissor arches in Wells Cathedral, all washed down with some local cider.

We were very impressed with Wookey House. Everything had been thoughtfully provided, all in excellent condition. Looks quite small from outside, but accommodated 6 adults and 3 dogs comfortably. Bedrooms very comfortable with plenty of storage. Didn't get to use the outside area due to the weather. The stairs down to the living area are a little steep so may not suit someone with mobility problems. Will definately return. |
