Wells-next-the-Sea

Stiffkey is a pretty Norfolk village nestled in a river valley in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The welcoming and friendly Red Lion public house serving real ale and good food is a few minutes walk from the cottage and the very pretty general store/post office is just around the corner, serving lattes and croissants. There are a number of other excellent pubs and restaurants in the area including the Michelin starred Morston Hall, just 3 miles away.

The village is ideally situated for access to the North Norfolk coast with its superb coastal walks which links to the renowned Peddars Way.

Those looking for fantastic stretches of sandy beach for walking, kite-flying, sunbathing, Frisbee should head to Wells (3 miles) and Holkham (5 miles).

Blakeney (4 miles) provides sailing, crab fishing from the quay, seal trips to the seal colony at Blakeney Point (these now leave from Morston rather than Blakeney).

The renowned Cley saltmarshes are just 6 miles along the coast road and are a must for bird watchers. Cley also offers pottery and art shops, a great deli and good pubs.

The picturesque Georgian town of Holt is 10 miles inland and provides a host of fine shops, galleries, pubs, delicatessens and antique shops.

Stately homes and National Trust properties within easy reach include Holkham Hall, Sandringham, Blickling and Felbrigg.

The World's longest narrow-gauge railway runs from Wells to Walsingham and is an adventure for all the family.
