Within easy walking distance of Norfolk's finest beaches, Wherry Cottage was completely re-decorated and newly furnished in 2005 with cool, contemporary colours and original artwork.
The bright, west-facing sitting/dining room has a feature wall of exposed local flint, and beams from its origins as a small barn. The open staircase leads to two bedrooms with distant sea views (one twin, one kingsize), and shower room with w.c. The kitchen is well-equipped and adjoins the rear hall and ground floor w.c.

The East Anglia / Norfolk region
East Anglia comprises Norfolk and Suffolk, the broadlands of which are now known as the Norfolk Broads. The land here is mostly flat but offers much walking. Also very fertile, farming and horticulture have dominated industry in the region with many technological influences from Dutch neighbours across the Channel.
Wells-next-the-Sea area
Wells-next-the-Sea was in Tudor times much closer than its present mile from the sea and a great port. Still a commercially viable port it has many cute, narrow lanes and interesting streets to wander through.
The town divides into three distinct areas, starting with the broad rectangular green to the north, lined with lime trees and some very fine Georgian houses, known as The Buttlands since the days when it was used for archery practice. South from here are the narrow lanes of the town centre - Staithe Street, the main commercial street, has some interesting shops for browsing. At the bottom end of Staithe Street stands the quay, a rash of amusement arcades and the road to the local beach, which is shadowed by a high bank erected to consolidate the narrow channel to the sea.
The name of Wells derives from the old word 'welles' meaning a clear spring of which Wells used to have many, rising through the sand and wells in the area. The addition of 'next-the-Sea' was to distinguish the town from other places in Norfolk of the same name. It was known as Wells-next-the-Sea in the early 1800's but with the coming of the railway in 1857 the name 'Wells-on-Sea' seems to have been used. The town council made the decision in 1956 that the name 'Wells-next-the-Sea' be adopted.
The large granary, a major feature down at the harbour, with loading gantry was built around 1903-1906.
