An Tig Bui is a large house built in 1987. The holiday let comprises half of the house. It is situated in stunning mountain scenery in the valley of the River Inny only 4 miles from the spectacular Ballaghasheen Pass. The sea is 20 minutes (16km) away, by car, at Waterville where there is a fine sandy safe beach. (The Inny Strand). There are also Golf Courses, Horse Riding, Fishing, shops and Pubs and Restaurants in Waterville. Cahirsiveen is 30 minutes (22km) by car and has all facilities, including pubs with live music almost most evenings in the summer. Ballinskelligs is a lively village. The Beautiful island of Valentia can be easily reached by car ferry or bridge.
The Inny Tavern is 5km away, in Killinleagh and there is also a small shop and a church in the village. Sunday evening is Social evening at the Inny Tavern
The area is ideal for walking on country lanes or hill walking on any of the mountains nearby. It is less than an hour's drive to Killarney and only half an hour to the foot of Macgillycuddy's Reeks and Carrauntoohil, Ireland's highest Mountains.
Boat trips are available to the Skelligs. Fishing licences can be purchased in Waterville for fishing in the lakes and rivers nearby.
Kenmare and Sneem are also within easy reach as is the famous Ring of Kerry.
The house is in the core area of the Iveragh Dark Sky Heritage Park which has been given Gold status by the International Darksky Association. It is the only Gold park in the Northern Hemisphere. It is of great interest to stargazers because many more stars are visible because of lack of light pollution.
The holiday let is a separate annex with accommodation for 4 people. It has a fully equipped large modern kitchen with a dining area. The lounge, with a wood burning stove, has fantastic views to the mountains nearby. There is freeview Satellite TV. There is a bedroom downstairs with Twin beds and a large shower room and toilet. The double bedroom is upstairs and has lovely views to the west, of distant mountains.
An Tig Bui has a few acres of land mostly down to grass but there is a garden area to sit and enjoy the quiet of the magnificent views.
This is an ideal family holiday or for couples seeking a quiet holiday far from the 'madding' crowd. Pets are welcome, although dogs may need to be kept on leads to start with.
