Bro Tref Cottage P328
Cottage | 4 bedrooms | sleeps 9
Charming Bro Tref Cottage is perfectly placed in the beautiful Cornish country village of St Mawgan. With the feeling of being miles from anywhere you are still only five minutes from Watergate Bay (Jamie Oliver's Fifteen restaurant and the Extreme Academy) and only a few minutes' walk to The Falcon Inn, a gorgeous stone pub with slate floors, an open fire and pretty gardens to sit in during balmy summer evenings.
St Mawgan is set in the Lanherne Valley where the river Menalhyl flows through the village which boasts delightful cottages, a 13th Century church, two bridges, a ford, shops and a 13th Century Manor House where the filming took place of Agatha Christie's televised programme of Miss Marple. Enjoy a stroll along footpaths leading through the woods to St Columb or out to the coast at Mawgan Porth.
However, a whole day could easily be spent wandering around the village, visiting the Bonsai gardens, the craft shop and possibly watching the local cricket teams play on the village green, finishing off the day with a Cornish cream tea in the tea garden behind the village shop. Bro Tref Cottage is the perfect accommodation to return to after a full day's activities down on the beach at Mawgan Porth (just five minutes away) or maybe Newquay or Padstow both of which are just a short distance along the coast.
If you are looking for accommodation for a larger party then consider booking the neighbouring property Bro Tref House.

The West Country region
Mawgan Porth and Watergate Bay
The picturesque village of Mawgan Porth is positioned close to Newquay, with Watergate Bay to the south and Padstow to the north, all no more than a short drive away. Located only 1 mile inland from Mawgan Porth is the quaint village of St. Mawgan, a charming place that has not changed a great deal in decades, giving visitors the chance to see a real authentic area of Cornwall. The village has a very popular pub serving award-winning food, a traditional Post Office and Parish Church.
Watergate Bay is just 4 miles from Newquay and offers a great range of adrenaline sports including surfing, kite buggy, land board and kitesurfing. It is a large, open bay at the bottom of steep cliffs, frequently picking up Atlantic swells and consequently highly popular with surfers. Throughout the year, a wide range of events are held at Watergate including surf competitions, beach polo and family fun days. Foodies are spoilt for choice, from the Beach Hut Cafe to the unique Jamie Oliver inspired restaurant, Fifteen Cornwall. During the summer, the takeaway serves hot drinks, snacks and ice creams to enjoy on the beach.
