The Square Holiday Cottage
from £72 /night help
Cottage | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 3
The Square is a cosy character cottage quietly situated in a sunny corner, just off the centre of the village. It's close to shops, good pubs, and just a stone's throw from the marina and West Somerset Steam Railway. It makes a perfect base for exploring the delightful scenic areas of Exmoor and the Quantock Hills.
The cottage has a kitchen/dining room and sitting room downstairs with two bedrooms (one standard double and 2 standard singles) and a shower room upstairs. It is 200 years old and is thought to have been constructed using timber ships broken down in the harbour.
Outside there's a small patio facing a footpath which leads to the public car park. We provide a parking permit free of charge which can be used in many of the area car parks.
It's perfect for a couple of small family (2 adults and 2 children), or up to 3 adults.
As an old cottage it is characterful with two foot thick walls, an unusually wide staircase from an old ship, and has quirks like some low doorways.

"Comfortable cottage in convenient location"
We had an excellent holiday in this little cottage in Watchet. Booking was easy, communication with the owner was friendly and efficient and the directions were very helpful. We felt at home straight away - the cottage is comfortable, well presented and well equipped. It is right in the centre of Watchet, just a very short walk from the car parks, pubs, restaurants, the West Somerset Railway and the marina.
Local maps are provided for guests to use and there is plenty of information to help you plan your stay.
Watchet was quite quiet when we stayed but everyone we met was very friendly and welcoming. It's the sort of place where people stop to say hello and have a chat. The co-op supermarket provides a good range of basic items and is open till late each day.
Near the end of our stay we discovered the Somerset Farmhouse Shop in Williton (just up the road) which sells wonderful local produce. Next time we visit the area we will stop there to stock up for the week!
Overall, we had a really lovely time - the weather was good and the cottage was perfect to come back to in the evenings as it felt so relaxing, and the quiet location ensured a good night's sleep! We hope to stay in The Square again next year.
