The Square Holiday Cottage
Cottage | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 3
The Square is a cosy character cottage quietly situated in a sunny corner, just off the centre of the village. It's close to shops, good pubs, and just a stone's throw from the marina and West Somerset Steam Railway. It makes a perfect base for exploring the delightful scenic areas of Exmoor and the Quantock Hills.
The cottage has a kitchen/dining room and sitting room downstairs with two bedrooms (one standard double and 2 standard singles) and a shower room upstairs. It is 200 years old and is thought to have been constructed using timber ships broken down in the harbour.
Outside there's a small patio facing a footpath which leads to the public car park. We provide a parking permit free of charge which can be used in many of the area car parks.
It's perfect for a couple of small family (2 adults and 2 children), or up to 3 adults.
As an old cottage it is characterful with two foot thick walls, an unusually wide staircase from an old ship, and has quirks like some low doorways.

Its attractive marina and recently enhanced esplanade are a popular destination to relax. The ancient little seaport of Watchet has a fascinating history told in two interesting museums, from the invasion of the Vikings to Romantic poet Coleridge, who was said to have composed "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" here.

From Watchet you are in easy reach of Blue Anchor just 2 miles away with its pebbly beach and swimming pool, a fun excursion on the West Somerset Steam Railway. The long stretch of sandy beach at Minehead is just 8 miles away, the gateway to Exmoor National Park and the South West Coast Path. Tropiquaria zoo is a few minutes, cider farms such as Sheppy's is in nearby Taunton, and a little further away are Cheddar Caves and Gorge, and Clarks Village outlet shopping in Street.
