An area of outstanding natural beauty, don'e miss out!
Warkworth - A village with a past and it’s history is very much a part of the place. Warkworth is dominated by it’s magnificent castle which is managed and looked after by English heritage. There is a buzzing village community and plenty of interest with shops, pubs, chocolate house and art galleries. The walk by the river is relaxing, watch the rowing boats, or even hire one yourself and enjoy the Hermitage, a curious dwelling carved out of the rock, you will be rowed over the river by boat if you want to visit. "Great holiday, good location, lovely cosy cottage and extremely friendly owners."
First visit to Northumbria and we weren't disappointed. Southmede cottage was as advertised, it was extremely clean, light and cosy and in a good location opposite Warkworth Castle- only 10 minutes walk to all amenities. The cottage had everything you required and a great deal more - the owners had thought of everything! All the windows in the property faced a lovely, well stocked garden and it was good to have morning coffee on the patio and listen to the birds. Carol and Mike were extremely friendly/helpful and lived next door - this was not an issue as they gave you your privacy, but were there if you needed anything. Lots to do in this beautiful area and our dog loved the beaches - there are three dog friendly places to eat in Warkworth - the best was the Warkworth Hotel. Will definitely be back as we all enjoyed so much. Paul, Pauline & Archie (Border Terrier) - Arnside, South Lakes, Cumbria.

This was a lovely holiday, the cottage was warm and welcoming and the location was perfect. Nothing was more than 40 minutes away, with beautiful castles and sites almost everywhere you looked! Highly recommend the "Hooked" restaurant in Alnmouth, absolutely sensational!

"Ideal dog-friendly cottage for two in a lovely location"
We stayed at Southmede Cottage over the New Year week, and were delighted with the personal touches provided by the owners. The cottage was very clean and the owners very helpful. It was the wrong time of year to make full use of the wonderful garden, but the cottage location was ideal for the lovely Northumbrian beaches and castles. We will definitely be back.
