Northern England region

The northerly county of Northumberland is a hidden gem of totally unspoilt countryside and wonderful long stretches of pristine sandy beaches.
If you want to stretch your legs and breathe in clean country air this is the place for you, with miles of wide open spaces and magnificent views. The county has three distinct sub regions; a coastline stretching some forty miles with quiet sandy beaches and pretty coastal harbour villages. Inland visitors will find dramatic rolling moorland and forests, much of which is National Park and to the south of the region is the famous Hadrian's Wall which runs coast to coast and is now a World Heritage Site.
Apart from Northumberland's natural assets the county is steeped in history and has had a turbulent past which is characterised by more than its fair share of castles and ancient hill forts, some of which were built to repel Viking invaders. It was also the scene of the border wars and conflicts between the English and Scots in the 14th-16th century.

Warkworth

Situated in the centre of the town it is within walking distance of restaurants, shops and the friendly local pub. These holiday cottages in Northumbria have views of the fantastic Warkworth Castle and follow the River Coquet. A short walk out of the village leads you to the sandy dunes and the open sea. Boat trips are available to explore the nearby Coquet Island and to watch the puffins feed. There is plenty to see and do whilst enjoying your Northumbrian accommodation such as visit the historic market town of Alnwick and visit the amazing castle and picturesque gardens. Then sit back and enjoy the entertainment in the local theatre, before returning to you luxurious Northumbrian cottage.

"A Delightful Stay!"

Clara's cottage is situated in the heart of the beautiful village of Warkworth in the square overlooking the idyllic church, within a street where there is a delightful cafe 'Topsy Turvey', a village post office, lovely craft shops and a couple of good pubs. At the top of the hill is Warkworth Castle an impressive sight and at the bottom, the very pretty River Coquet. The owner didn't just leave the essential provisions, she provided so much more - in fact her generosity was second to none. She really had thought of everything for her guests. The rooms were decorated to a high standard and immaculately clean - the bed linen and towels all top quality designer labels. An excellent stay all round.
