The conversion of this old coach house has created accommodation of a high standard whilst retaining many original features.

The Cottage was awarded a Visit Britain FOUR STAR, GOLD accreditation in 2014 in recognition of the very high standards that it offers. Every effort has been made to provide the very best in quality from the very comfortable beds with the finest cotton linen through to equipment that wont let you down. Having stayed in many self catering cottages over the years, we know how annoying it is to have a blunt knives, non-stick pans that are anything but and beds that are so uncomfortable - you would rather sleep on the floor - you won't find any of that here. There is a small courtyard garden with Weber bbq and patio dining table/chairs with parasol. From the garden you enter the Conservatory with tiled floor, comfortable seats and space for coats & boots; down two steps into Kitchen/Dining Room with underfloor heating and Free View TV. There are 2 Bedrooms: a double with kingsize bed and ensuite: bath with shower over and a twin (can make a 6ft double) with ensuite shower wet-room.

Upstairs: Light and spacious Sitting Room with oak floor, rugs, comfortable seating and footstool big enough to share. SKY+HD box (Entertainment Extra, MOVIES and Sport) TV, DVD and CD player/Radio and logburner.

Full central heating with thermostatically controlled radiators and constant hot water.

Village shop/Post Office for newspapers/bread and essentials is a 3 minute walk away. Pub serving good food is a 10 - 15 minute walk across the park.

The West Country region

Dorset is a county of outstanding natural beauty and boasts a significant amount of magnificent scenery. There are rolling hills with picturesque villages and a coastline with fishing villages and sandy beaches that have been awarded World Heritage status by UNESCO - one of only 4 naturally occuring sites in the United Kingdom. It is an area rich in fossils from the Jurassic period.

There are many ancient Iron Age hill forts ie. Maiden Castle (the largest pre-roman fortress in Britain), stone circles and earth barrows ie. The Five Marys (a five minute walk away!). The County is mainly rural and does not have many large towns other than Bournemouth and Poole. Small towns include the County town of Dorchester, Sherborne, the seaside town of Weymouth (venue for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Sailing Competition. Much of Dorset is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The village of Winfrith Newburgh is truly central to so many attractions. The specatular Jurassic coastline can be explored via the South west coast path which can be joined only a couple of miles away at Lulworth Cove (famous for geological importance and its natural horseshoe shaped harbour) or Durdle Door (famous for its beautiful beach and natural Stone Arch). Clouds Hill (the rural retreat of Lawrence of Arabia) and Max Gate (home to Thomas Hardy) are on the outskirts of Dorchester. The Tank Museum (the world's best collection of tanks and live action displays) and Monkey World Ape Rescue Centre (setting for Channel 5's Monkey Life programme) are both within 5 miles.

"Excellent cottage, friendly owners, beautiful location"

I don't think we could fault The Coach House as a base for a week's holiday in Dorset. The accommodation itself is stylish, spacious and well-equipped; beds are soft and cosy; the kitchen is… More

"Perfect in every way"

My husband, three year old daughter and my mother in-law enjoyed a fantastic weeks holiday in Tara and Andy's cottage in Dorset. We even had the weather on our side! Everything about the cottage was perfect. Clean, comfortable and well equiped with everything we needed for our stay. Tara and Andy were very welcoming and friendly and the welcome gifts were a lovely personal touch. The location too was fantastic, not far from Dorchester, Corfe, Durdle Door and Lulworth. If you were after a sandy beach then Studland and Shell bay are just a short drive away. The village shop also offered so much more than just milk and newspapers. (freshly baked bread, pastries, quiches, fresh local produce etc)
We had such a lovely time that we've already booked to come again next year!!

"Exactly what we were after!"

We had a wonderfully relaxing stay at the Coach House. Highlights for us were the lovely and generous welcome tray and extra touches such as a Christmas card and Birthday card for me, high quality bedding and lovely large towels, and SKY TV. Tara and Andy are lovely and friendly people, and ready to help if needed. It felt so nice to be staying somewhere with hosts like them. The Coach house has everything you need and is in a great location, very close to a village shop selling all the essentials, a pub and a playground. There is loads to do around there too...Corfe Castle, Monkey World, Lulworth Cove (beautiful). Highly recommended. We hope to go back one day!

"A perfect holiday in a perfect place"

We have just had one of the best and most relaxing holidays at the Coach House. Greeted on arrival with the warmest of welcomes from Andy and Tara who couldn`t do enough to make us feel more at home. The accommodation was all we had hoped for and was equiped to a very high standard Incl sky and wifi, plus a lovely tray of goodies that went down very well. A very comfy bed and pillows allowed us to sleep well. The village is full of thatched cottages and the shop lacks for nothing. Andy told us of plenty of places to eat and Tara kept our days busy with places to visit. All in all we had a great time in a great place, we didn`t want to leave and will be back for more very soon.

"Relaxing getaway"

We stayed at The Coach House for three week nights in March 13. The type of accomodation was perfect for the two of us, and location a 10 minute drive from the coast was exactly what we wanted. We had a very relaxing stay. The furnishings and amenities at The Coach House are excellent. All mod cons including Sky tv and internet access. Perfect for all weather conditions. It was so nice I would happily stay in and chill out if it was raining outside. We recieved an informative note and treats on arrival which was very welcoming. We went for walks at Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove where the scenery was amazing. We also spent a wet day at monkey world which was also a very enjoyable day. Best place to eat we found was the Salt Pig in Wareham and also The Castle Inn, Lulworth. Very good communication with Tara and Andy. I think The Coach House is perfect, I could find nothing to fault!
