The railway station, main line to Waterloo, is a 5 minute walk and the Wareham bypass is across the water meadows. Enquire nowThe West Country / Dorset region
Dorset is becoming rather well known now and you do not just pass it by on the route to Devon and Cornwall. But there is so much to do and see in this small county from lovely sandy beaches, rocky coves, seemingly undiscovered villages and little country lanes leading to undiscovered places.
The famous places like Corfe Castle, Studland beach, Worth Matravers, Lulworth Cove are all within easy distance of the mill but the interior of Dorset is well worth a visit and trips to Dorchester, Sherborne, Weymouth, Chesil Beach, Lyme Regis etc. are a must for anyone wanting to discover the delights of this county.
The Wareham area
Wareham is situated between 2 rivers, the Piddle and the Frome and is surrounded by the Saxon Walls, an ancient monument and well worth the walk around. It is full of history and the museum is a great visit. Market days are Thursday and Saturday and every 2 weeks there is a furniture and artefacts auction in the East Street salerooms.
There is an annual carnival in August and the town is closed for the parade. Corfe Castle is a short drive away and the Swanage Railway puts on steam trains all year round and soon the steam is coming back to Wareham. You will then be able to 'bucket and spade it' all the way to Swanage and leave the car behind.

Forget the weather and just induldge in this oh so British setting by the river. The 800 year old building just oozes characture and charm with a modicum of modern day conveniences. The garden with friendly chickens supplying the eggs, the sea trout jumping in the river along with the local swans, the abundant flora and superb hospitality of Sally the owner made this such a special holiday. |

With Sally's hospitality, the peaceful location and comfort of North Mill, we had a perfect relaxing holiday. Lots of nature to observe; chickens in the garden, fish in the river, all sorts of birds including a flash of kingfishers darting about, cows in the field and the odd friendly local too! So peaceful and traquil - perfik! |
