About this location
The East Anglia region
Suffolk Coastal has 40 miles of Heritage Coast, almost all of which is set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so there is a feeling of peace and tranquillity even in the height of summer.
The rich and varied landscape from the coastal towns and resorts to the rolling farmland offers the visitor a wonderful variety of experiences. Whether you want to build sandcastles and eat ice cream, or discover some of Britain’s rarest wildlife, you can do it here on the Suffolk Coast.
There are attractive market towns and villages with many secrets to discover - all these and much more are just waiting to be discovered.
There are many attractions connected with the rivers: windmills, tide mills, boat trips and museums as well as river walks and cycle routes. The wealth of ancient history ranges from Anglo Saxon sites such as Sutton Hoo to Norman Castles at Orford and Framlingham.
The area has an abundance of natural attractions in the form of national Nature Reserves, areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and sites of Special Scientific Interest. These include RSPB Minsmere and the National Trust land at Dunwich, Orford and Snape Marshes.
If its relaxation you are looking for then sitting watching the sun set across the beautiful sandy beaches at Southwold is a sight you will come back for time and time again.
Home to a delightful church, an excellent general store and two pubs both serving home cooked food – the charming village of Wangford makes an excellent holiday destination. The working lighthouse, award-winning pier, busy harbour, cliff-top cannons, lovely beach, southwold golf club and range of shops are just a handful of the great activities available for visitors of Southwold, only a short drive away down the picturesque Suffolk Heritage Coast.
Nearby are the Walberswick Marshes, a popular attraction amongst ramblers, whilst Minsmere, one of the country’s most famous RSPB reserves is also close by, homing a variety of wildlife for over fifty years. Whether you plan on relaxing on one of the glorious golden beaches, or walking through this fantastic scenery, you’re sure to find something to entertain you in this diverse region.

Nice and Clean, located in a quiet village a short distance from Southwold. Because the village is so quiet, I think we all had the best nights sleep for a long time. The downside is the cottage would… More

"Pretty in Pink"
Lovely cottage! Comfy bed and super shower! Close to all local amenities: I bumped into a cousin on Southwold Pier! and sang with the Jazz Band in the Angel Inn. A very friendly pub indeed!
The village is lovely and yet only two minutes from the main road to Lowestoft, and Great Yarmouth. A bit more information on locating the nearest supermarket would be helpful.
I am sure I will visit again, maybe in the summer months when the fields are green and the beaches are warm!

"A great little cottage in a lovely area"
We very much enjoyed our stay in The Old Courtyard. On arrival we found the cottage beautifully clean. It is very well appointed, with a high quality kitchen, good furniture, pleasant bedrooms, and a chest of childrens' toys. We were a party of four adults and three young children, but the cottage coped well with this number. Wangford is a pleasant village, and the local facilities (pub, shop, childrens' playpark, church) are all within easy walking distance. The cottage is situated on a fairly quiet road. The beaches at Southwold and Walberswick are both just a few minutes' drive away, and the rural hinterland is very attractive. We consider the price we paid represented good value and we very much appreciated the flexibility with booking dates. In summary, The Old Courtyard is a delightful small cottage in a good situation, and one day we hope to return there for another holiday.

"This is the orignal chocolate box cottage with all the modern home comforts."
My husband and I have now stayed at the 'old courtyard' twice. It has everything you need to 'get away'.
The cottage is extremly clean and excellently decorated and has all the comforts of home.
The village pub is friendly with good home cooking, and the local shop has all the basics you need all within a five minute walk.
The local and surrounding areas cater for everyones needs whether it be long counrty walks with great local pubs.
Or into Southwold for shopping or a day at the beach - you must try the fish and chips on the pier!.
We are already planning our next weekend stay.
