Ideal for relaxing on the terrace, walking or cycling on the extensive local tracks or just over an hour from the beaches of the Southern Vendee. Several local markets, and easy travelling distance to attractions such as Futuroscope or Puy du Fou (both about 75 minutes by road).

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Vendee region
Known for warm dry summers (3 days' rain in 4 months in 2009), the Vendee is popular as a holiday destination, with visitors coming from the UK, Belgium, Holland and Germany, as well as from within France. The landscape is essentially rural, with rolling countryside, mainly below 220 metres elevation.
Vouvant area
Warm summers, long (and can be fairly hot (38C) days). Lots of history. This was once "English" Aquitaine - Queen Eleanor's home at Neuil sur l'Autize is only 30km away. The Venise Verte (the drained fens) are also an interesting tourist attraction, with trips in powered craft, canoes and punts. There is a good bar/restaurant in the village (2km) and several more in the surrounding area. Futuroscope and Puy du Fou are each just over an hour away. Varied beaches (from very quiet to frenetic are within an hour-and-a-quarter, although all can be busy in July and August. There are several inland lakeside "beaches" and watersport facilities within half an hour. There is an extensive network of cycle/walking tracks, and several riding stables locally.
How to get there
4-5 hours from west and mid Channel ports - 6hrs or so from Calais area. Nearest airports: La Rochelle, Poitiers, Nantes.

Further details indoors: We try to make our guests feel this is their home during their stay. We therefore provide those useful things that are difficult in small quantities - salt, pepper, toilet rolls, cooking/olive oil, etc. We provide all domestic towels and linen and also beach/pool towels.
