The Ionian Islands region
Enjoy the unspoilt and traditional charm of the Greek Island of Lefkas, all within easy driving access of the mainland. Crossing the canal excavated by the Corinthians eliminates any need for ferries. The fourth largest of the Ionian Islands boasts 117 km of coastline, from long sandy beaches to small rocky coves backed by the rugged white cliffs from which the island takes its name. The dramatic central mountain ridge is softened by an array of lush green valleys clad in olive groves and vineyards with tall cypress trees standing sentinel. Women wearing the traditional dresses and fine lace shawls continue cottage industries or help with the unchanging Greek rural life.
Villa Elena is superbly situated to explore many of the nearby towns and villages.
Just 5 minutes drive, or 20 minutes easy walk the cosmopolitan town of Nidri lies in sharp contrast to the sleepy village of Vlicho. With a variety of shops, bars, tavernas and restaurants it is an ideal place to sit on the harbour front watching the world go by. From here one can take regular boat trips to neighbouring islands, often accompanied by inquisitive dolphins. The gently sloping beach provides safe bathing, even for the youngest, while the more adventurous can partake in the water sports on offer, including paragliding and the “flying fish”. For those preferring more tranquil water sports, small motor boats, sailing dinghies and yachts may be hired. By night the pedestrian area comes alive and for the young at heart there are a number of unobtrusive clubs and discos. Those wanting to explore further can hire bicycles, scooters or cars.
A short distance away lies the hidden gem of Haradiatika, with its white stone square surrounded by small traditional buildings. Protected on three sides by the towering mountains refresh yourself at one of the welcoming tavernas. Use all your senses to appreciate the flora and fauna of the island.
On the Northern tip, the island’s main town of Lefkada displays it’s unique architecture. It’s vibrant pedestrian area, surrounded by exclusive shops, bars, museums and churches, contrasts with yet compliments it’s up to date large marina with all the facilities the yachting fraternity may wish for.
On the South coast the town of Vassiliki is a haven for those who enjoy water sports, mountain biking or hiking, with an abundance of leisure facilities. For those not as sporty an abundance of bars and restaurants hug the harbour side.

Just returned from one week at this beautiful villa. It is highly recommended from its spectacular views to the modern interior designs and original artwork. Stunning was the word used on a daily basis. Well done to Ros and Neil, all your hard work has paid off, you have a fine holiday home in the sun. Sitting under the new pergola was my favourite spot - just perfect for relaxing, reading and soaking up the stunning scenery. Infinity pool was heaven. All in all 5* very highly recommended. Recommend the Greek Taverna's for cheap local food, especially Limonaki near the local Yacht club and Taverna Elena and Restaurant across the bay. Both offered good food with excellent service. A boat trip around the islands is the best way of travelling. At only 20 Euro per day per person, a bargain eight hours of entertainment. We hope to book again.

"A real VIP Villa!"
My dad, my friend, my partner and I have just spent a brilliant week at villa Elena and already can't wait to book for next year! The villa itself has every mod con you can think of- even an I phone/pod/pad dock- this was really well used, as we could listen to our favourite tunes while floating around in the stunning infinity pool, all the while taking in the views of the surrounding islands of the Ionian sea- a truly breathtaking sight! Villa Elena is bright, spacious and clean, and although I didn't travel with kids I did notice that it is well equipped for families. The area surrounding villa Elena is beautiful and ever so laid back, giving you an authentic taste of Greece. depending on whether you want to relax and immerse yourself in the culture, or whether you want a lively holiday with a party or two there is something for everyone of every age. being a young (ish) twenty-something, I inevitably wanted to get stuck in to some activities-both day and night. If you turn left out of the villa, either a short 20 minute walk or 5 minute by car/taxi journey away is the town of Nidri- here we hired a speedboat for the day- FABULOUS for island hopping and highly recommended. There is a water sports centre too- the old guy George that works there is great fun, and we really got value for money as well as a bundle of laughs! There are plenty of bars and tavernas to choose from. I personally loved a taverna called 'Cafe de Paris- the staff are friendly (a guy named Panos couldn't do enough for us) and the cocktails are to die for. it overlooks the quayside too which my partner loved as he is a sailor. If you turn right after leaving the driveway, a short 10 minute walk away in the relaxed Greek village of Vlicho you'll find a lovely bakery, which we went to every day for fresh bread. it was a joy to wander through here taking photos of the buildings, and the seemingly endless number of yachts moored up. There's a friendly little pony/donkey (we couldn't decided which he was so we called him 'ponkey') that lives here too- he enjoyed us feeding him an apple every day! I have left villa Elena with many wonderful memories of my week- we all agreed that it was without a doubt our best holiday yet, which takes some doing! Special thanks go to Vas, who lives in the next villa up and takes care of villa Elena- a lovely guy, and was more than happy to answer any questions we had. An amazing time in a luxurious villa in a top class location :)
