Home description
Templar House offers guests a true Maltese experience. This unique period house is situated on the edge of Vittoriosa in the heart of a traditional, friendly Maltese community. It is only a few minutes walk away from the glamorous Grand Harbour Marina, where super yachts berth and film stars have been known to take their morning coffee whilst filming on location in Malta!
All the conveniences of The Three Cities are just a short stroll away - restaurants, cafes, wine bars, casino, shops, museums, churches, the ancient fort, fabulous scenery, water taxi and boat trips. This area is away from the tourist hub but is within easy reach of all island attractions by either car, bus, taxi or water taxi.
The house is a large and traditional Maltese stone house set down a small but typical and charming alley. It has recently been renovated and maintains the traditional Maltese style but in addition modern features have been included to make for a very comfortable stay. For example, air conditioning is in all the bedrooms and cable TV has been installed. Stunning views can be enjoyed from the large and private roof terrace where one is able to enjoy a bbq and a cold beer!

The Island of Malta region
The climate of Malta is Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers and mild winters. During the summer months (May to September) there is little rain, and about 12 hours of sunshine daily. During the winter months it is mild with on average 5-6 hours of sunshine per day, meaning it is great to visit all year round.
A trip to Malta allows you to relax in a warm, friendly and centrally situated Mediterranean island, where the sea is crystal clear and the climate mild all the year round.
The island is small meaning it is easy to get around. Malta has something for everyone. From old historic cities with fascinating museums and medieval palaces to young and vibrant coastal towns where you can simply relax and soak up the sun or enjoy a variety of water sports, fishing and diving.
Malta is perhaps best known for its world heritage sites, most prominently the megalithic temples which are the oldest free-standing structures on Earth.
Valletta and Sliema are full of brand name shops where one can find anything that the heart desires. Open air markets in Malta are very popular. There is an open market practically every day. It is impossible to mention everything this gem of an Island has to offer; the Maltese people are renowned for their hospitality and friendship and are only too pleased to help if you require any assistance.
Vittoriosa / The Three Cities area
Vittoriosa is the oldest of the Three Cities and was the headquarters of the Knights of St John when they came to Malta in 1530. Having withstood the Great Siege of 1565, Vittoriosa became the seat of government in Malta, prior to Valletta being made the capital city.
Vittoriosa cannot help but captivate you as you meander through the myriad of wonderful ancient streets and houses. It is also home to a number of museums such as the Maritime Museum along the water front, the Inquisitor’s Palace and the Malta at War Museum. There are also occasional festivals and firework displays.
Vittoriosa, due to its historical charm and beauty, is a popular film location and some of the buildings have featured in films such as The Count of Monte Christo, Gladiator, and Troy. It is also an international marina hosting an increasing number of super yachts from all over the world that come to berth at Vittoriosa. Cruise liners gracefully glide into the Grand Harbour of Valletta which you can observe from the roof terrace of the house.
Along the harbour front and in Vittoriosa itself there are a number of restaurants, wine bars and cafes serving delicious Maltese cuisine including an array of freshly caught seafood to enjoy whilst in the idyllic surroundings of the Grand Harbour and the marina. There are also water taxi and boat trips available from outside maritime museum

Guestbook for Templar House
September 2009: Malta was great - it was gloriously hot! The people should be bottled and marketed - they are so friendly! We were absolutely delighted with the property - it was five star! Your attention to detail was excellent. We have stayed in a number of properties rented directly from the owners over the last few years. This was without question the best equipped and the most attractive. It is ideally placed for all the sights. Everything worked properly. The kitchen was beautifully appointed. The whole place was great. I particularly liked the roof terrace and the room leading onto it. It was a lovely touch to have all the facilities up there to have breakfast overlooking the harbour. Everything has been very well thought out. Your information pack was also excellent. We followed a lot of your recommendations and were never disappointed. The bakery was particularly good!!!! We have already recommended you to some of our friends.
September 2009: We had a great holiday at Templar House, I really wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, we all thought it was far more interesting staying in the Vittoriosa area rather than the usual holiday areas of St Julians and Sliema etc.
August 2009: We had a wonderful two week holiday in your traditional but beautifully modernised house. The house was extremely comfortable, spacious and very well equipped with a lot of attention paid to detail. It was one of the the best self-catering houses we have stayed in over the past 30 years. The inclusive taxi collection and welcome pack was much appreciated, especially at 1:30 am on a Sunday morning! We especially loved the roof terrace and the view over the marina. The location was ideal for us in a traditional non touristy area but with all the history and facilities of Vittoriosa with excellent restaurants, shops, museums and transport all within a few minutes walking distance. We hope to come back again as we have fallen in love with Malta and we still have so much to see.
August 2009: We had a lovely time staying in your house, from first arriving(in the early hours), we loved the clean fresh feel to it. The house has been really well converted and the fact it is actually two houses into one makes it feel large and spacious.Everything seems to have been thought of , and as we said before it is a real credit to you both.We loved the kitchen, the roof terrace, the bedrooms, the extremely efficient air-conditioning,(a real bonus), the views of the marina. The way it has been decorated and furnished is perfect, bringing traditional and modern together, and just a few, pieces of furniture in each room adds to the clean, calm feel. it is a pleasure to see a house in Malta so lovingly converted, and the location is ideal. Also the walk up the quaint old steps to get to the house is lovely. Thankyou for all your help in making sure everything ran smoothly, and enabling us to have a very nice holiday.
August 2009: It was a privilege to stay at Templar House. It is an authentic old stone house with high vaulted ceilings, which has been carefully restored, tastefully furnished and equipped to the highest standards. There are three floors with nooks and crannies to discover on each, all set around an inner courtyard. Although the house is at the heart of a warm and friendly community in a maze of alleys and stone steps, it is completely secluded and absolutely quiet at night. We particularly loved the rooftop terrace for breakfast, tea and sundowners overlooking the magnificent rosy-coloured domes and bastions of the Knights' Three Cities and the Grand Harbour of Valletta itself. It has the convenience of a kitchen on the top floor, as well as the superb downstairs kitchen-dining area and three bathrooms. Everything the heart could desire. The owners have also provided a booklet with exhaustive information on anything and everything you might need to know. This is not a place for those whose priorities are the beach and the nightlife, but as a base for exploring "the real Malta" and living the good life it is ideal. Our week at Templar House was an unforgettable experience - we warmly and unreservedly recommend it.
