About this location
The Dalmatia region
Dalmatia is special Mediterranean place full of history and tradition. In the past it always had been poor region, exploited by richer counties, with no economic progress and any kind of perspective, but thanks to that it preserved untouchable nature full of historical lions telling us the stories how difficult life used to was here. Still our scientists keep discovering artifacts as a proof of a rich history and national tradition of this mysterious region.
Thanks to geographical position island of Vis always has been main port of all nautical and trade which meant different kind of people and cultures.
Antique Greek, Romans used to live on this island and it was called Issa and it was an independent colony. It also was very respected colony because it provided specific vine.
In Early Middle Ages Barbarians arrived and instantly learned nautical skills and island of Vis was part of Early Middle Ages Croatian kingdom. Most of them became pirates and because of that soon Venetians won the island. This island, as important port, was always in the middle of all historical wars. It was attacked by Catalans, Turks and Arabs. In that period originate settlement Luka and Kut which later becomes today town Vis. Despite constant danger from the seaside during Renaissance and Baroque Vis is going trough economic and cultural blooming. Vis still stays as important Adriatic port.
In 1810., after reign of Austria and latter France, British are occupying the island and building big forts and illegally imported all Britain merchandise.
And again in 1815. Vis was under Austrian region, now island was under Italian attacks, but luckily not with fortune. Vis again was famous for its vines all around Austrian kingdom until it was hit by disease, which caused great emigration.
After World War I Vis was for a short time under Italians, and later in 1941. under Yugoslavian kingdom.
In 1943. island Yugoslavian party took over the island and it became main airport base for Allies in World War II. As main military base it was closed for visitors and tourists until 1992. And luckily that preserved island and here you can only see original Dalmatian traditional buildings and way of living is still same as it was back than.
I'm inviting you to come here to explore this mysterious island full of after war buildings, airports and boat tunnels and even older Roman terms, taste some of most delicious traditional food and of course have fun at many night events.
Here possibility of raining is small so nothing can stop you to take a swim in some of our untouchable beaches and enjoy your vacation.

"beautiful & well equipped - perfect for couples and friends"
Harry was very nice and welcoming, a perfect host! Communication went very smooth. Even though there was a little mistake with booking from our side, he was easy-going about it and fixed it in no time… More
