The Normandy / Calvados region
The landscape is unspoilt bocage countryside, with quiet country lanes and stunning views of Calvados which boasts cider, apple brandy and cheese as it's specialities. An easy drive to the coast where dishes such as moules et frites, lobster and oysters are every day treats. The historic Landing Beaches and museums are within an hours drive, as well as the Bayeaux Tapestry. The ports of Honfleur, Deauville and Troueville are also close by.
Vire / St Germaine de Tallevende area
The nearby town of Vire is great for restaurants, shopping , local markets, parc de france, and a golf course. There is also an indoor swimming pool with flumes etc. You can enjoy boating and watersports at Lake Dathee, which is only 15 minutes drive away. There are also many antique and war memorabillia shops in the area. Close by is the Festy Land Theme Park, 2 local zoos, bungee jumping and canoeing and fishing facilities.
