Les Deserts our beautifully restored cottage is situated just outside the sleepy hamlet of St Christophe De Chaulieu, and has wonderful views of the neighbouring pine forest and the Normandy countryside, it offers a haven of peace and tranquillity, whilst still being close to all of Normandy's many attractions. A perfect location for a family or romantic holiday.
Les Deserts retains many original features including its exposed oak beams and feature granite fire place which has a large wood burner for cooler evenings. The very comfortable living area is tastefully furnished and the open plan kitchen is fully equipped to make your stay at Les Deserts more comfortable. Downstairs there is a modern shower room & toilet and upstairs there are 3 bedrooms consisting of two doubles and one twin room, all rooms are pleasantly furnished and have heating for winter lets and floor standing fans for the summer months. There is also an upstairs WC.

The Normandy / Calvados region
Being on the edge of 3 regions Calvados, Manche and Orne Les Deserts is the perfect location for discovering all that Normandy has to offer, from the D-day beaches and the coastal town of Granville to the Mont St Michel and Bayeux, all a must when visiting this part of France.
Also the the pretty little town of Villedieu De Poules which is well known for its manufacture of copper pans, it also holds a vibrant weekly market a good place to stock up on local produce, or maybe just sit in a cafe and enjoy watching the locals go about their every day business, all these places are within easy reach of the cottage.

Vire / Sourdeval area
The pretty little town of Vire which is our largest local town has plenty of shops and restaurants to choose from and the market held every Friday is also worth visiting where you could try one of the tasty Galletes made by the local traders.
The museum in Vire exhibits local art and the heritage of lower Normandy. The area surrounding Les Deserts is a walkers paradise with some lovely walks to be had in the countryside which has some wonderful views.
How to get there
Les deserts is easily reached from one of the ports, and flights to Caen Airport are available from most united kingdom Airports.

Further details indoors: The living area is very comfortable and has large comfy sofas, TV with satellite (English channels), DVD with surround sound and a large library of films to keep you and your family entertained. There is a selection of varied music and lots of books.
The Kitchen is fully equipped with Dishwasher, Washing machine, Gas hob/oven, Fridge Freezer, Combi micro/ Grill and even a Crepe warmer.
The twin bedroom has a TV and Video and a large selection of films and children's videos. One of the double bedrooms has a very comfy single sofa bed for a 7th person if required. A baby's highchair, cot and bath are all available.
Further details outdoors: Les Deserts stands in its own large well maintained gardens with beautiful views of the countryside, The south facing terrace has a lovely view of the neighbouring pine forest, it is a wonderful place to sit and relax any time of year, you may also be able to spot some of the local wildlife including deer, red squirrels, hares and the many different birds that frequent the garden and if you are lucky wild boar.
There is a gazebo on the terrace with table/chairs and barbecue and plenty of out door lights for dining alfresco. To cool off in the summer months there is a large plunge pool with sun loungers and for our younger guests there is a sand pit (bucket & spade provided) and a selection of garden toys (a small paddling pool is available for toddlers).
Further details
Changeover days are Saturday and entry to the cottage is only available after 4pm, please vacate before 10am on the day of your departure, please note that you are required to leave the cottage as clean and tidy as you would expect to find.
If however you decide not to clean the cottage before your departure please mention this when you are booking and a cleaner can be arranged at an additional cost of £30.
