Catalina is a beautiful family home situated in the village of Vinca in the foothills of the Pyrenees – just 30 minutes from Mediterranean beaches and an hour from ski resorts in the high Pyrenees.
The architect designed house has been owned by the same family since being built in 1989. With the owners now residing in the UK the house is now available for holiday rentals.

The house is very secluded, situated in grounds of 0.4 hectares (just under 1 acre) with plenty of off street parking available.
The impressive swimming pool has been designed to maximise both sun and shade throughout the day.
The local shops and other village amenities are just a 3 minute walk.
With the famous mountain of Canigou dominating the local countryside, Vinca is an ideal base for those wishing to explore this beautiful region. The immediate vicinity is ideal for walking, cycling and mountain biking. Vinca also boasts a large swimming lake and beach - with lifeguards and beach café during the summer. The lake is just a 10 minute walk from Catalina.
Catalina is suitable for winter letting as it is heated throughout with the added bonus of a large log fire.

The Languedoc-Roussillon region
This area benefits from being in the sunniest region of France (we're told around 300 hours per year), and enjoys warm weather from March all the way through to October. November and December are cooler but still with sunshine. January, February and March are great skiing months (less than 1hr drive to the ski resorts).
The local town of Prades – just a 10 minute drive – has 3 supermarkets and is world renowned for its Pablo Casals Music Festival held every August. There is a large market every Tuesday.
The city of Perpignan – 25 minutes away - is steeped in history with numerous historic buildings, art galleries and restaurants. Every Thursday during high summer the city comes alive with street entertainers and is an excellent place for a family evening out (it's also very child friendly). The railway station was proclaimed by Salvador Dali as “The centre of the world” although we reckon it's just like any other.
Wine lovers will find a wide range of tasting or buying opportunities available, Languedoc wines are growing in stature and we are able to provide many recommendations for some of the more interesting vineyards.
Beaches - The nearest Mediterranean beach at Canet can be reached within 30 minutes whilst the famous Cate Vermeille with historic fishing ports of Collioure, Port Vendres and Banyuls are a 40-50 minute drive. We have plenty of restaurant recommendations on this part of the stunning coastline.
The Mountains - The walled town of Villefranche (15 minute drive) signals the start of the higher mountains of the Pyrenees. It is also the starting point for the famous Train Jaune (Yellow Train). Canyoning, climbing, horse riding, quad bikes, mountain biking and walking are all within easy reach
The area is also famous for its history – notably the Cathars. Their castles – built on top of rocky crags – are a must for all ages. Many are within a 45 minute drive and are handily situated close to some of the best vineyards in the area!
Spain – the Spanish border can be reached within 45 minutes. The magnificent Dali Museum in Figueras is just 20 minute drive from the border, and Barcelona about another hour.
The whole region is a delight; the Conflent valley, with Vinca at its centre, provides beautiful green scenery, with Mount Canigou dominating the skyline and the Pyrenees just a few miles away. You can be swimming in the sea in the morning, and hiking in the mountains in the afternoon, skiing in the morning and paddling in the afternoon. It really does offer you everything!
Nestled beneath Mount Canigou and on the edge of a large mountain water lake with beautiful soft sanded beach area (used for swimming and sailing), Vinca is a charming market town that combines the character of a French village with the convenience of having, shops, bars, cafés, seasonal eateries and an Auberge serving local cuisine. It is extremely convenient for all the main towns and visitor attractions of the region and in addition to this it is only 20 minutes from the historic Catalan capital of Perpignan, 30 minutes from the coast (Canet Plage & St. Cyprien) and 50 minutes from the main ski resorts (Font Romeu & Les Angles).
The nearest larger towns are Ille-sur-Tet (8 km) and Prades (8km), which both hold regular markets and festivals throughout the year.
The main attraction in Vinça is the beautiful beach area and swimming lake surrounded by hills, trees and mountains. The beach area has a small snack bar so you can stay at the beach all day. For younger children there is a play area, with a large selection of bouncy castles. You an also take horse rides at the lake.
Facilities in Vinça include an All weather basketball/football play area, 3 tennis courts (free), boules court and mini golf. There is also horse riding in the summer.

Grottes-des-Canalettes (Magnificent caves)

Saint-Michel-de-Cuxa Benedictine monks have been here since 578. The Abbey is pre-Romanesque and the cloister (in pink marble) Romanesque. Concerts during the festival Pablo Casals at nearby Prades.
Prieuré de Serrabona (literally, the Priory of the Good Mountain) Consecrated in 1151 and classified as a Monument Historique in 1838. Famous for its beautiful capitals in the cloister.
