Home description
The house is located at the outskirts, 5 minutes walk from shops and restaurants, in a small, unpretentious and charming village at the foot of the Mont Ventoux. The house dates from the 17th century and has maintained its unique atmoshere and style. It consists of a main house and a small adjacent old chapel (la hapelle de Notre Dame) (now in disuse).
The house is surrounded by a large private, park-like garden with centuries old trees (different species of pines, cypresses) and fruit trees (cherries, apples, pears, olives). There are large areas of grass suitable for playing games (Batminton, football...) There is a wooden tree house in the back of the garden where children can play and sleep.Ample terrasses surround the house with lovely views over the Mont Ventoux, vinyards and the village. . There is a large swimming pool (6X12).
The house is ideal for a larger family or two families, and can easily accommodate 8-10 people. There is parking space (outside, no garage) for two large cars and one small car.
The village has all basic shops and facilities, and three provencal restaurants. The village has excellent tennis courts (5 min from the house). A bigger town, Carpentras, is just 15 or 20 minutes away by car. Fine, gourmet restaurants abound in the vicinity.
The house is situated in the middle of the Rhone Valley vinyards, with the Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Chateauneuf du Pape regions close by.
There are lovely rolling hills but also ragged mountain scenery around the Mont Ventoux and the Gorges de la Nesque.The area is quiet and peaceful. It is great for walking and cycling, tennis, horse riding, kayaking, and making trips by car. It is close to lovely old cities and towns such as Avignon, Nimes, Aix-en-Provence, Arles, Marseilles, Orange, Vaison-la-Romaine. It is less than two hours away from the beaches of Marseilles and Cassis. It is also close to the Camargue region.

The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Vaucluse region
The house is in the middle of the Rhone Valley vinyards. The appellations of Vacqueyras, Gigondas and the renowned Chatreauneuf du Pale are close by.
Old cities and towns such as Avignon, Nimes, Aix-en-Provence are all close enough by to make day trips to.
Lovers of antiques and art will want to visit Isle sur la Sorgue, a small town full of antique stores and a weekly high quality antique market.
There are castles to visit (Tarascon, Villeneuve Les Avignons,, Gordes).
The Luberon area (Gordes, etc.) is 40 minutes away.
Marseilles is a wonderful city to visit, lots of museums and great shopping and the charming old port area.
The beaches of Marseilles and Cassis are less than 2 hours away.
The Camargue (St Maries de la Mer) is also less than 2 hours away.
Villes-sur-Auzon area
Villes-sur-Auzon is a quiet, unpretentious village, not very touristy. It lies at the foot of the Mont Ventoux, in the middle of the wine fields of the Mont Ventoux. Lovely walking and cycling country. The Gorges de la Nesque are spectacular montainous canyons close to the village.
Lots of things to do in the village or in surrounding villages (all within 15 min): walking, cycling, tree adventure climbing, swimming, kayaking, tennis, batminton, table tennis, horse riding. Cycles can be rented in the village.
How to get there
By air to Marseilles, and from there it is about 1hour and 20 minutes by car. Marseilles airport has ample car rental services, but it is wise to make advance reservations
By air to Nice or Lyon. From Nice it is 2 hours and 30 minutes driving, from Lyon a little over 2 hours. While there are at present no budget airlines flying on Marseilles, there are quite a few that fly on Nice and Lyon.
By rail (TGV) to Avignon. From there it is about 45 minuts by car. The TGV station in Avignon has ample car rental services, but it is wise to make advance reservations
By car. it is about 11 hours from Amsterdam, and about 11 or 12 hours from London

Further details indoors: This house has a luxurious interior, and is decorated in great taste. There is a large open kitchen and dining room, and an adjacent sitting room with an open fire place. All around there are french windows, opening up to ample terrasses, both in the shade and in the sun.
The lay out of the house allows two families to stay there at the same time, with each family having their own separate privacy in terms of sleeping and sanitary facilities.
The house is divided in a main part and an adjacent part (which used to be the rectory of the chapel that is adjacent to the house (the chapel is no longer in use). The main part of the house has 3 double bedrooms with a luxurious bathroom and a living room on the first floor. In the adjacent rectory part of the house there are two smaller bedrooms with shower/WC on the first floor, and one large luxurious bedroom with shower/WC on the ground floor.
The house has thick walls, and stays cool in the summer.
Further details
English/Dutch speaking owner's representartive lives in the village and will arrange for cleaning/maid services, and can help if there are questions/problems. There is a very friendly neighbour living opposite the house, French speaking only, who takes care of the garden. The lessees of the house are expected to take care of watering the garden from time to time when they're there and basic swmming pool maintenance. There is a clear English language explanatory booklet in hte house.
Conditions
No pets allowed. Strictly no smoking in the house. Full rental amount plus 25% deposit payable not less than one month prior to planned stay. A rental contract will need to be signed, will be forwarded by email on request.
