A Top Rated 2 Bedroom 2 Bathroom Home.

La Maison Jaune is a large renovated 300-year-old village house offering very comfortable and spacious accommodation over three floors. It is an idyllic base for one or two couples and is situated opposite the village square. Close by the front is one of the village fountains, a Romanesque arch to the square and a quiet road lined with giant plane trees – to the rear a delightful and private stone-walled garden offering sunshine and shade in plentiful supply.

The front door opens to the spacious entrée with armchairs, a downstairs W.C. and the stairs to the upper floors. There is a large fully equipped kitchen including microwave and dishwasher. The 'L' shaped living room has a dining area with a large table and a sitting area with plump sofas, armchair and French and UK satellite TV.

A patio door opens onto the private walled garden where an ancient fig tree and large umbrella provide shade from the warm Provencal sun.

On the first floor is a bedroom with a king size (5') bed and its own private roof terrace with table, chairs and parasol – an indulgent setting for breakfast 'al fresco' or whatever! In addition there is a walk in wardrobe, which also houses the automatic washing machine. Also on this floor is a bathroom with a large tub, separate shower, basin and W.C.

On the second floor there is another large bedroom with twin (3') beds, a dressing room and another bathroom (large shower, basin and W.C.).

Included in the rental are mains water, electricity and bottled gas for the hob. An oil-fired boiler provides hot water and during the winter months (November to March) full central heating. Fresh towels for use in the house only and bed linen are provided.

The house is our home and the standards of comfort, furnishing and fittings are somewhat higher than the majority of holiday rental properties – something that many guests remark on.

We restrict the maximum number of guests to four so that they can enjoy the most comfortable possible holiday experience. We regret that we do not accept parties that include under 21's, children or pets.

We ask that guests do not smoke in the house.

We offer WiFi and there is a telephone for local calls and most mobile phones work well in the house.

The French Riviera - Cote d'Azur region

The city of Avignon is about 30 minutes drive. Situated on the river Rhone and offering sightseeing and sophistication in abundance, it is well worth spending at least a full day there.

The rich Roman heritage of the region offers some of the finest remains in the world and is well worth exploring. The Theatre at Orange and the arenas at Nimes and Arles are superb and still in use! The excavations at Glanum, near St. Remy, and Vaison la Romaine are well presented.

The pink flamingos, black bulls and white horses of the Carmargue are an hour's drive. The Mediterranean resort of Cassis is one of many less than two hours away, and offers a picturesque harbour, beach and superb seafood restaurants.

Provence is wine country and in Villes you are close to some internationally renowned names like Chateauneuf du Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueras, Rasteau and Beaumes de Venise.

For shopping there is an Auchan hypermarket at Le Pontet, on the Villes side of Avignon together with a good shopping mall. The neighbouring village of Bedoin has a superb market on Monday mornings offering both produce and a vast array of typically Provencal goods – pottery, fabrics, lavender gifts, soaps etc. At Isle sur la Sorgue on Sunday mornings there is a huge antiques and bric-a-brac market – said to be the largest in France outside Paris. For the best bargains you should plan to arrive early.

Villes-sur-Auzon

Carpentras is the nearest large town some 10 miles to the west with a full range of shops, supermarkets, restaurants, a tourist information office and a market on Fridays that snakes around the narrow streets and squares of the ancient walled town.

Villes sur Auzon

Mont Ventoux provides a dramatic backdrop with its white limestone cap rising to 6,000 feet. Nestling at the foot of the southern slopes of Mont Ventoux, the small village of Villes is delightful, unspoilt and the ideal base for exploring the very best of Provence, or just switching off and enjoying the seductive atmosphere of the rural South of France. All around the village are vineyards and olive groves. The spectacular Gorges de la Nesque runs from the village towards Sault and offers breathtaking scenery. The village itself is well provided with shops for all basic supplies. There are bakers, minimarket, greengrocer cum general store, tabac, hairdresser and post office. A small market is held in the village square on Wednesday mornings. There are three restaurants and a couple of café bars less than 5 minutes walk. The local Cave – Terra Ventoux – is a short walk from the house and offers very drinkable (and affordable) Cotes de Ventoux wines. Also in the village are a swimming pool and tennis courts. There are two swimming lakes within five minutes drive. During July and August open-air events in and around the village square are a regular feature.
