Home description

This is the perfect place to come and relax -- a secluded house and garden on the edge of Villers sur mer. Les Baleines has been our much-loved house for forty years, and we renovated it a few years ago. The garden is full of apple trees and hydrangeas, and the back garden is a suntrap. It is comfortably furnished in keeping with its traditional charm. There are two double bedrooms, each with a double bed and there is a further single bed in the third bedroom.

The Normandy / Calvados region

Villers sur mer is in the "Pays d'Auge" region of Normandy and combines a beautiful beach with lush rolling countryside. Villers is just 5 miles away from Deauville - playtown of Paris and the world, with its horse racing, casino and exclusive shops - but also the beautiful Normandy "Pays d'Auge" is on the doorstep. Honfleur, Bayeux and the landing beaches all make for easy days out.

Villers sur mer is perhaps the prettiest of the seaside towns along the "Cote Fleurie" and has good restaurants, a market and fantastic food shops, crammed with local produce -- the cider, cream and cheese of the region and an award-winning charcuterie. There is sailing and windsurfing on the beach in the summer.

How to get there

The house is 5 miles from Deauville on the edge of Villers sur mer. It is about 45 minutes from Caen (Brittany Ferries), an hour from Le Havre (LD lines) and three hours from Calais (Eurotunnel).
