Home description

This large family gite enjoys stunning views of the Vire valley, and sleeps 8 with ease. It is close to the English owners home, and is set in 8 acres of farmland and meadows, where sheep, pigs, and chickens are kept, and there are cats and dogs to make friends with. You will enjoy the quiet rural surroundings, and the private garden is a perfect place for a lazy summer afternoon whilst the kids play in the pool, and you enjoy a glass of wine.
It is just a short drive from the D Day beaches, and the market towns of St Lo, Vire and Villers Bocage, and whilst here you should visit Mont St Micheal, and the Bayeaux Tapestry.
The owners are always happy to give advice on family days out, and can book anything from Canoe trips to Golf days or a Bungee jump for you! and reccommend family friendly places to eat out.

The Normandy / Calvados region

This gite is a short drive from the D Day beaches, and is set in stunning coutryside with views of the Vire Valley. Calvaos is the home of cider making in France, and you can visit local farms and taste thier cider and apple Brandy, and visit the makers of other local produce on a tourist troute. for the family you can enjoy watersports on the river Vire including canoeing, and visit the local viaduct where bungee jumping takes place daily in summer . Several brave guests have paid to Jump in the past, or try the zip line and tree top adventre zone .
There are several good restaurants nearby, and markets to visit and buy local produce.

Villers Bocage area

In the village of St Martin Des Besaces you have a full range of small shops including bakers butchers and a general store. At Villers Bocage you will find supermarkets and larger shops.
The gite is close to the velo route for the Vire, a cycle route taking you through the bocage countryside.

How to get there

The gite is a 40 minute drive from Caen Ferry Port, 1.25 hours from Cherbourg, and 3.5 hours from Calais and the Channel Tunnel

Further details indoors:
Down stairs is a very large lounge dining area, with a farm house style dining table and a range of comfy arm chairs and sofas. There is a log burner for use in season. You will have english sateilte TV, plus a Cd player, books and games, and a playstation can be provided. Wifi internet access is available and free. The kichen has all you will need including a dishwasher to make life easier.
There is a double bedroom on the ground floor, and a further double room on the second floor, with two twin bedrooms. This makes a total of 8 beds in 4 bedrooms , although there is a bed sette in the lounge as an extra.
The bathroom has a hyrdo massage shower, with a small bath for toldlers.
We can provide a cot and highchair free of charge if required.

Further details outdoors:
The large private rear garden has its own aboveground swimming pool, patio, with table and chairs and BBQ, and enjoys stunning views. On a clear day you can see for 10 miles down the Vire valley.
You are welcome to stroll arround the 8 acres of meadows and make friends with the sheep pigs and chickens dogs and cats that the owners keep on site.
There is a games room, with full size American pool table, and table tennis table for you to use, and plenty of cut grass to play football or cricket on.

Bed linen is available for hire, rentals are Saturday to Saturday, weekends available out side summer months.
Pets are welcome. logs are available at a small charge out of the summer season. electric and water charges are included.

Conditions

£200 deposit required with booking, with the balance payable 6 weeks before your holiday. we ask for a refundable £100 security deposit.
Payments can be made via internet banking direct to the owners UK bank account,
