Home description
Our house is a 17th century three level maison in the beautiful village of Villeneuve, Minervois, 15km North of Carcassone in the South of France. The ground floor consists of a kitchen, dining and living area. The first floor is the bathroom, (with bath), and main bedroom with a queen-sized bed. The third level is a large attic bedroom with two single beds and a fold out divan suitable for a small child.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Aude region
The Minervois is part of the larger region of Languedoc-Roussillon, which stretches in an arc along the coast from Provence to the Pyrenees.
It is an area of great natural beauty, famous for its wild gorges, cathar villages, picturesque canals, and wines. Above the endless vines, medieval castles and abbeys grace the horizon.
The climate is Mediterranean, with relatively mild winters and hot summers.
It’s a fascinating region with a lot to offer both near and far. Villeneuve is one of over fifty villages in the Minervois and an ideal base from which to explore the south of France.
The magnificent medieval citadel of Carcassonne is only a fifteen-minute drive away. Toulouse, Beziers, Montpellier and Narbonne are all easy day trips, as is the Mediterranean coast. You can get to the wonderful fishing town of Sete within an hour. Barcelona is just a three-hour drive away.
Villeneuve Minervois area
There are endless ways to unwind and soak up the relaxed pace of the Minervois. Great restaurants, markets, cruises along the Canal du Midi, picnics beside the river, mountain walks, and endless indulgences for the history buffs.
The village offers a host of services: there are market stalls selling fresh produce, a baker, a general store, a café, two restaurants, a pizzeria and a post office.
Villeneuve has two cellars which sell the local wines, tennis courts, a library with internet access, daily buses to Carcassonne and a local taxi service.
How to get there
International airports are at Beziers, Carcassonne, Perpignan, Montepellier and Toulouse. There is a TGV railway station at Beziers, from where buses go to Villeneuve. Rental cars are available both at the railway station and at the airports.
