About this location
The Languedoc-Roussillon region
The Languedoc is the sunniest region in France and has to be one of the most untouched by mass tourism.
Rivers, canals, Cathar castles, Corbiere hills, beaches and of course the local cuisine, markets and vineyards are just some of the reasons to visit.
Nearby towns of Carcassonne ,Narbonne and further afield Toulouse and Montpellier have all something to offer and are worth the journey.
Lagrasse is approx 1.5 hours from the Spanish border and the Pyrenees.
Lagrasse with its cobbled streets and Medieval houses is classed as one of the most beautiful villages in France.
Local arts, crafts, produce including wine, cheese and olives are available from shops and the Saturday morning market.
Restaurants, a café, boulangerie, post office and pharmacy are also available.
There are multiple opportunities for wine tasting as almost every village has at least 1 wine cave (including Chateau Villemagne opposite)
Trebes at 15 minutes is a bustling place on the river and also boasts the Canal du Midi running through the centre of the village.
There are some good restaurants along with a wine bar on the canal side.
Servies en Val at 2 mins has a bar with food and Lagrasse has 6 restaurants and a café bar.
Carcassonne with its Medieval Cite is 20 mins away.
Beaches of the Med are within an hours drive.
Further details and information will be available upon arrival.
