In a small and stylish 1930's apartment block ( only 7 apartments) and on the top and 2nd floor (NB: no elevator) a superb, light and airy apartment overlooking the bay of Villefranche and the millionaires paradise of Cap Ferrat. Totally refurbished with a lovely new kitchen, walk-in shower, free-standing victorian caste-iron bath in one of the bedrooms (very romantic setting). The sunny and comfortable living room with dining area opens into the new kitchen so that views of the sea and balcony can be enjoyed while cooking and chatting. The apartment is in a quiet and private road (no thoroughfare for general traffic ) and only residents can park there so it is usual always possible to find a parking place.

Villefranche sur Mer is approx. 5 kilometres from Nice and approx. 20 Kilometres from Monaco. It has a very quaint old town with Cathedral and famous Citadel which has a entry-free art gallery. The Citadel hosts many shows and concerts throughout the year but especially during the summer months and shows also up to date films in the open air theatre. Villefranche has lots of restaurants, shops, cafes and bars, many overlooking the harbour. It has a long sandy beach and a smaller pebble one and a pleasant promenade for enjoying an evening stroll. There are many firework displayd during July; August and September.

It is possible to learn to dive and water-ski locally or hire a boat. Take a train or bus to Monaco or Nice. Go shopping for a day to the market in Ventimiglia, Italy. Take the bus from Nice to many inland destinations like Vence or Grasse, the famous home of perfume. In the winter you can take a bus in the morning to the Ski resort in Isola, less than 2 hours away, ski for the day and be back in time for dinner. Nice, Antibes, Cannes and Monaco with their festivals, historic sites, theatres and glamourous people and shops are all easily reachable by train, bus or car. The bus fare to Nice, Monaco,Antibes,Vence,ect is just 1.00 euro. It really is not necessary to hire a car - let the bus or train take the strain. Bus every 15 mins to Nice and Monaco.

How to get there

Villefranche sur Mer is 20/30 mins approx. drive along the coast road from the international Airport of NIce. It is possible to take the local bus from Nice Bus Station here. The bus stops close to the top of the road or you can take the train to Villefranche station. However from the station it is a good 15 mins walk along the sea front road. A taxi from Nice airport costs approx 55/60 euro.

With two great good quality double beds, comfortable furniture and fully equipped kitchen, this is a perfect apartment for those who wish to cook, relax and sunbathe on the balconies while enjoying the stunning views or for those who like to be out and about all the time, just returning to shower,sleep and recharge the batteries.

Further details outdoors:
Situated in a private road which has no through traffic. The road has mainly beautiful villas and only one other small apartment block on the same road and the other set in superb private grounds. The road is in one of the most sought after positions in the town because of its position -close to town and with steps down to the beach and the Darse harbour which has 4 goor restaurants. Going down the stairs it is just a short and beautiful walk alone the coast to the old town and all its retaurants.

Further details

The sea is wonderful to swim in and many locals swim all year round although the water is pretty cold from January till April. There is a small pebble beach just minutes (down stairs) from the apartment or 15 mins walk approx. to the main sandy beach.

Conditions

The apartment is not suitable for anyone who has difficulty climbing stairs.

Villefranche is also known for its steps and hills so not suitable for the very elderly or infirmed, although it is true to say that we have a lot of 85+ year old locals here who seem to benefit from the local terrain.

Guests and friends have said - "Its a paradise; stunning views; beautiful and tastefully decorated apartment;perfect location; could hear the waves while lying in bed at night; the view is truly wonderful; watching the luxury yachts coming and going and life going on round about was the thing I loved the most; the fireworks display from the balcony with the moon and stars twinkling was so romantic. Sitting on the balcony I could hear the monkeys and lions from the Zoo across the water in Cap Ferrat. It just sounded so amazing - it reminded me of Africa!!! We swam before breakfast as it only took minutes to get to the quiet little local's beach nearby - we just couldnt resist joining the swimmers we could see having an early morning swim from the balcony. In the evening we liked to have a picnic and a moonlight swim - the water was heaven. Lying in bed with the balcony doors open we could just hear the sea lapping on the shore - that just made our holiday so special.

It was actually even more beautiful than the photos. I wish I could buy it!!!
