House | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 4
This modern two bedroom house in the popular coastal town of Villefranche-sur-Mer benefits from superb views across the bay, over to the exclusive neighbourhood of Cap Ferrat, and out to sea.
Just 1km from the town centre and port, it's conveniently located for the sandy beaches, the quayside, the old town and the train station. It's also a great place from which to enjoy the many towns and villages along the French Riviera including Nice, Monaco, Beaulieu and Eze.
Offering approximately 70 sq metres of living space, the house comprises a comfortable living room, modern open-plan kitchen, two good bedrooms each with own bathroom, a large patio, plus a huge roof terrace with fabulous views over the sea.
It has a maximum occupancy of 4 people (plus babies) and would be perfect for a small family or two couples. Please note however, the owner prefers not to accept very young children because of the roof terrace.
Living room: stylishly furnished with two large sofas and coffee table, set around a large flat screen TV (French) DVD player, and with lovely views from the window over the bay.
Kitchen: modern and open-plan to the living room, it has oven, induction hob, dishwasher, large fridge, freezer, washing machine, iron & ironing board, toaster and coffee machine. There's also a breakfast bar and 4 stools for casual dining.
Bedrooms: two in total, both with their own en-suite bath or shower room. The master bedroom is large and has a double bed (140cm wide), a range of clothes storage and big windows opening to the lower patio. The other bedroom also has double bed (140 wide) elevated and accessed by small ladder. Underneath there's a work space, then a small sofa, TV, DVD and clothes storage.
Bathrooms: the master bedroom has a stylish en-suite shower room, with large shower area, washbasin and WC. The other bedroom has an open bathroom area with large corner bath, handheld shower, washbasin and WC.
Outside: located on a quiet no-through road, the house is set amongst gardens planted with beautiful, old olive trees and Mediterranean flowers. The large patio set in front of the house is furnished with small table & chairs and is a peaceful spot to enjoy breakfast in the morning sun. Round the back, steps lead up to a superb 50 sq metre roof terrace, furnished with long table and 6 chairs in teak, and from here you can take in the superb views over the bay. Free parking can be found outside on the main street.
Swimming pool: not available here, but the sea is only 1km away.
Suitability note: this house isn't suitable for very young children, as there are no railings around the terraces and the owner is concerned about their safety. Also the house is located on a hillside, so if you're walking anywhere please note it will be up or down hill.

About this location
The French Riviera - Cote d'Azur region
Sightseeing is endless; Villefranche is a beautiful 14th Century town set on one of the Cote d'Azur's most charming, natural harbours and overlooking the exclusive peninsula of Cap Ferrat. Wandering through the warren of evocatively named tiny streets, broken up with steps, you get occasional glimpses of the sea. The houses are painted in a rainbow of Mediterranean colours. Apart from Villefranche, you are also ideally placed between Nice and Monaco to visit the most famous places on the Cote d'Azur. To the east there's St Jean-Cap Ferrat, Beaulieu-sur-Mer, the medieval hilltop village of Eze, the principality of Monaco, Cap Martin and the town of Menton on the Italian border. To the west you have the coastal towns of Nice, Antibes and Cannes. Further inland you can visit the delightful towns and villages of Vence, St Paul-de-Vence, Valbonne, Biot and Mougins.
Other entertainment includes the water theme-park at Marineland near Antibes; the Old Town of Nice; The Promenade des Anglais; the Port of Nice; the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild and the zoo on Cap Ferrat; casinos and shopping in Monaco; helicopter rides from Monaco; yacht marinas in Villefranche, St Jean-Cap-Ferratt and Beaulieu-sur-Mer; the outdoor cinema in Villefranche, and much, much more!
Local shops, restaurants, boulangeries and small supermarket can be found just 400 metres away, up on the 'Col de Villefranche'. A further choice can be found just 1km away, down in the town of Villefranche, where there's a fantastic array of local produce; you can dine along the quay-front watching the boats bobbing around; or amongst the maze of tiny streets in the old town - there's something for every budget and taste. You'll also find other cafes & restaurants nearby in the town's yacht marina.
Local markets are held in the old-town square and also alongside the main road through Villefranche. Here you can choose from a colourful selection of fresh fruit, veg, olives, fish and local produce. There's also a 'Brocante' (flea market) held every Sunday where you can buy all sorts of artefacts and ornaments. A larger market can be found about 3km away in the famous 'Cours Saleya' in Nice
Sporting activities in the area are abundant – being near to the sea, fishing, water-sports, sailing and swimming are a favourite; you will also find tennis nearby and golf courses further afield.
Beaches can be found approximately 15 minutes' walk away in the sandy bay of Villefranche-sur-Mer. It's good for swimming and from here you get great south-facing views down the bay to the open sea.
The ski stations of Valberg, Isola 2000 and Auron are just over 1 hour's drive away if you fancy a couple of day's winter sports! You are also in close proximity to the mountains and hills of the Alpes Maritimes region here, which makes walking and cycling very popular.
Getting around is very easy - you have a good local bus network, with a small bus heading towards the village from close to the house. The trains which run along the coast from Cannes, Nice and Monaco stop at Villefranche-sur-Mer station just 1km away. A car is preferred at this location for a more enjoyable stay.
