The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Alpes-Maritimes region
Villefranche is situated 4kms from Nice Centre and 7km from Nice International airport. A well kept secret as it retains it's charm due to lack of major hotels nearby. You can happily spend all your time in the Village enjoying discovering it's wonderful history and why artists such as Jean Cocteau and Sommerset Maughan loved this area so much. In the 60's the music of the Rolling Stones could be heard across the bay as they had a villa on Cap Ferrat. Yet the village still retains it's authentic feeling. Villefranche also benefits from a micro-climate which means that the suns shines all year round making it perfect for a winter break. If you do wish to venture forth, the train which is 7 minutes away runs all along the coast. Nice or Monaco are ten minutes away or you can be in Italy in 40 minutes. The wonderful village of Eze is 20 minutes by car or St Paul de Vence, Cannes and Antibes about 40 minutes. All can be reached by public transport so you can easily be without a car. However, there is parking available nearby. This is the best location on this fabulous coast by far.
Villefranche Sur Mer / Villefranche Old Town area

Jean Cocteau is famous was having lived in Villefranche and the chapel was designed by him. He stayed at the Hotel Welcome which is in front of the apartment. There are regular festivals in the Citadel and village celebrations which take place during the year. Each Sunday there is an antique market in the square.

Guestbook for Artistes Tresor
"your apartment has a breathtaking view and the location is ideal. We had a wonderful week here and hope we can return someday. During our stay we had lots of fun. We went to Monte Carlo, Nice and Ventimiglia. We also rented a boat and went fishing." Thanks for a great stay!" The Murray family August 2006
"This was out first visit to France and we have loved every minute! Villefranche is truly amazing - relaxing, beautiful and fun - all at once. The apartment was perfectly located and very comfortable. We loved the view and found everything we needed. Cannes, Monaco and Eze and all the little trips made the days fly by. We can't wait to come back. Thank you for all your help. See you soon" The Brust family, Jacksonville Florida. January 2008
My husband and I and our 23 year old daughter, had a wonderful time at the apartment. We hired a car ~ perhaps we didn’t need one on reflection, but it did give us the freedom to visit inland. Several times we travelled by bus ~ so easy as the bus stops were just steps away from the apartment, went to Monaco/Monte Carlo and a couple of times to Nice, liked the standard 1 euro bus fare rate. Villefranche is the loveliest spot. Great just watching the world and the cruise liners go by from the waterfront bars, wandering around choosing places to have dinner/coffee/ice creams. Also enjoyed the ‘beach’ (an unexpected bonus as we didn’t realise there was one!) spotlessly clean, absolutely no radios allowed and patrolled by many lifeguards ~ very relaxing and we even found tree shaded benches to sit on! The apartment itself is lovely and the view over the bay ~ early evenings with a glass of something, watching departing cruise liners and then the lights starting to twinkle around the bay was time well spent! An enjoyable holiday, Villefranche exceeded our expectations ~ it’s got everything we’d imagined a South of France destination to have; unexpected squares in the old quarter, craft market (lovely jewellery), antiques market, tiny shops, alleys leading to the seafront... just wish we’d gone for longer! Best wishes Joan
