The apartment is close walking distance to the train station with regular trains running along the coast from St. Raphael to Vintigmille (Italy).
The Villefranche Sur Mer area
The port, the citadelle, the old town, and the gentle curve of the coast all contribute to the beauty of the village which dates back to 130 BC.
With its colourful fishing boats and nets, the port is both a base for fishermen and tourists, offering numerous cruises in the summer. You can wander along the fishing wharves, bordered by restaurants and their terraces. If you continue until the end you will arrive at the lengthy Villefranche beach which is pleasant from the very first days of summer.
The Saint Elme citadel which over-looks the sea dates from the 16th century and appears to watch over the old part of the town today

You absolutely could not ask for a better location than these apartments. The people watching and view of the harbor from the balconies was incredible and you are meer minutes by foot from both the beach and the train station. We recently rented all 3 studios for our family. Each one was very clean and bright and well equipped. The furniture was a bit higher quality than the cheapest things IKEA has that most holiday rentals have and the kitchens were much better equipped with decent quality pans, dishes, toasters, microwave, kettles, coffee makers and kettles. It was really a budget saver to be able to cook simple dinners (2 burner stoves, no oven--but pasta or bread and cheese with salad is all one needs on vacation anyway, right?) and enjoy the ambiance of the balcony rather than eat out at overpriced local restaurants. Everything was clean and bright and in good working order and roomier than many such rentals. The apartment building also had beach chairs, toys, mats, etc in the hallways to borrow for day trips--a very nice touch. The wi-fi worked well and was pretty fast. We never turned on the TVs (they are rather small) but why would you when you have lovely harbor views right outside? There were nice local travel guides as well as many reading books in each room. Also, a CD player and a variety of CDs in studio 4. I really cannot say enough good things about staying here. The apartments themselves were great and the location is truly ideal. There is so much to do and see in the area, plus the fabulous beach right there. You could probably stay a month and not get bored. I give this place my highest recommendation. |
