Home description
Nestling amongst two acres of woodland and open countryside and ideally situated between the Lot Valley and Aveyron Gorges, Les Fontaines is the perfect place to relax and unwind. Guests have use of the superb 12 x 6m swimming pool (which is bordered by mature oak and ash trees which offer welcome dappled shade during the hotter summer months).
Within a very short distance you will discover many of France's most beautiful medieval villages (Najac, Belcastel, St. Cirq Lapopie and Cordes to name just a few). Kayaking/Canoeing/Rafting and river cruises down the Lot Valley are just a few of the many outdoor activities readily available. There's an abundance of wildlife/birdlife on the doorstep and breathtaking scenery and dramatic landscapes in every direction. In other words, something to please everyone!

The Midi-Pyrenees / Aveyron region
We are blessed with bright blue skies for most of the year and experience long hot summers. Spring and autumn are both usually mild, thus ensuring a very pleasurable stay whichever time of year you decide to come and visit us.
Villefranche de Rouergue / Martiel area
Our local village of Martiel is just 10 mins. walk away. There is a restaurant, an "alimentation" (corner shop) , where you can purchase your essentials, a Boulangerie, Post Office, hairdressers, church and a tennis court.
The bastide town of Villefranche is only 10 mins. drive away and there you will find large supermarkets, an abundance of excellent restaurants and bars, shops, doctors, dentists, hospital etc., etc.
Throughout the summer there are fetes in every local village and the local markets (weekly or twice weekly) are well worth a visit (Villefranche is a particularly good one). There are excellent restaurants within a few kilometers offering superb local cuisine from as little as 15 Euros for a 3 course evening menu and under 10 Euros for a lunchtime menu, which usually includes wine.
How to get there
We are very easy to find from either Rodez airport (45 mins.) or Toulouse Blagnac airport (1.5 hours). Several budget airlines i.e. Jet2.com, Easyjet and Ryanair fly into both of these airports. In addition, Carcassonne, Limoges and Bergerac airports are within 2.5 hours drive of Les Fontaines. All airports offer excellent car hire facilities.
If driving, the nearest port is Dieppe, approx. 8 hours drive. The nearest train station is Villefranche de Rouergue (10 kilometers) and there is a direct, overnight train from Paris to Villefranche.

"We had a wonderful vacation in this beautifully restored stone manor house. Our room was large and very comfortable. The breakfast on the old dining room table was delicious. Andrea and Steve are really friendly and chatted with us in the evening in front of their cosy fireplace. They were particularly helpful with directions for visiting the nearby “Most Beautiful Villages in France” of stone hill towns, caves, markets, and great places to eat.
