Nestling amongst two acres of woodland and open countryside and ideally situated between the Lot Valley and Aveyron Gorges, Les Fontaines is the perfect place to relax and unwind. The 3 double bedrooms have recently been refurbished to the highest of standards to cater for those seeking luxury and comfort. Guests have use of the superb 12 x 6m swimming pool (which is bordered by mature oak and ash trees which offer welcome dappled shade during the hotter summer months).
Within a very short distance you will discover many of France's most beautiful medieval villages (Najac, Belcastel, St. Cirq Lapopie and Cordes to name just a few). Kayaking/Canoeing/Rafting and river cruises down the Lot Valley are just a few of the many outdoor activities readily available. There's an abundance of wildlife/birdlife on the doorstep and breathtaking scenery and dramatic landscapes in every direction. In other words, something to please everyone!

There are swings in the field for the children. In addition to being fenced and gated, the swimming pool has the added benefit of a recently installed infra red alarm. There are a couple of adult mountain bikes available for guests free of charge.

The Midi-Pyrenees / Aveyron region
We are blessed with bright blue skies for most of the year and experience long hot summers. Spring and autumn are both usually mild, thus ensuring a very pleasurable stay whichever time of year you decide to come and visit us.
The Villefranche de Rouergue / Martiel area
Our local village of Martiel is just 10 mins. walk away. There is a restaurant, an "alimentation" (corner shop) , where you can purchase your essentials, a Boulangerie, Post Office, hairdressers, church and a tennis court.
The bastide town of Villefranche is only 10 mins. drive away and there you will find large supermarkets, an abundance of excellent restaurants and bars, shops, doctors, dentists, hospital etc., etc.
Throughout the summer there are fetes in every local village and the local markets are well worth a visit (Villefranche and St. Antonin Noble Val are particularly good ones). There are excellent restaurants within a few kilometers offering superb local cuisine from as little as 19 Euros for a 3 course evening menu and around10 Euros for a lunchtime menu, usually including wine.
The immense Lac de Bannac is less than 3 kilometers away. With facilities for fishing, birdwatching on the nature reserve, acrobranche, pedaloes, crazy golf, snack bar/restaurant, plus picnic areas and entertainment room for themed music evenings throughout the summer , its the ideal place to spend an enjoyable day and/or evening.

We are very easy to find from either Rodez airport (45 mins.) or Toulouse Blagnac airport (1.5 hours). Several budget airlines i.e. Jet2.com, Easyjet and Ryanair fly into both of these airports. In addition, Carcassonne, Limoges and Bergerac airports are within 2.5 hours drive of Les Fontaines. All airports offer excellent car hire facilities.
If driving, the nearest port is Dieppe, approx. 8 hours drive. The nearest train station is Villefranche de Rouergue (10 kilometers) and there is a direct, overnight train from Paris to Villefranche.

My partner and I recently had a short stay at Les Fontaines and what a delightful couple Andrea and Steve are who are so obliging and helpful. Les Fontaines is absolutely beautiful. Andrea a natural interior designer has decorated it and furnished it exquisitely..the pool area is a wonderful spot to relax and cool off after a busy day of sighseeing the beautiful towns area surrounding countrside. I would Highly recommend this as a perfect place to stay and rate it an 11/10. |

My husband and I recently stayed Bed & Breakfast at Les Fontaines (for 5 nights) and have to say it was superb in every way! The bedrooms had everything you could want and were beautiful in every way especially the decoration and the bed linen. The breakfasts were served in their lovely dinig room and there was an excellent variery of food and plenty of it :-) We were welcomed by Andrea and Steve (the hosts) and made to feel very much at home. Unfortunately we had poor weather but they loaned us umbrellas and gave us some good advice about places to go to that would still be beautiful in the rain - and they were so right. They also recommended fantastic places to eat. We will definately be recommending this place to our friends and booking a return visit. |

Please note that we can sleep up to 7 people in our Bed and Breakfast Rooms . We have a newly refurbished en-suite double room which is situated on the ground floor, called the Garden Room. This room is suitable for those with mobility problems, but isn't wheelchair friendly. It is also ideal to use as an annexe to the cottage on a self catering basis (please ask for rates). We also have 2 deluxe doubles on the first floor plus a single room, which can be used in conjunction with either of the deluxe rooms, at 40 euros per night. The double rooms are priced at 70, 90 and 100 Euros per night, for 2 people, including delicious buffet style breakfast. There is a reduction of 10 Euros per night for single occupancy. Our rooms are the same price all throughout the year. Please enquire for further information.
