Further details indoors:
The gite has been carefully renovated to provide comfortable family accommodation whilst maintaining a sense of rural France (original oak beams & stonework). It is equipped with a modern kitchen and has its own washing machine, sun terrace and barbecue.
When you arrive you will find your beds made-up with luxurious Egyptian cotton bedding and a welcome hamper to greet you.
Further details outdoors:
From a huge sandpit close-by to the gites, to a great big play barn stocked with toys books and videos. We like to think we have considered your family's needs very carefully.
The 12 by 6 metre enclosed solar heated shared swimming pool enjoys panoramic views over the surrounding unspoilt countryside. There is a separate 4 by 3 metre children's paddling pool. The shared main pool has a safety ledge around the deep end for those less confident in the water; both pools have a saltwater sanitisation system - Softer water and no stinging eyes!
All the grounds are a big play area for the children with:
Wooden climbing frame
14ft trampoline (with safety enclosure)
Swings
Slide
Huge sand pit
Boules
Giant Jenga
Archery
5-a-side football pitch
Mountain bikes for hire.
The Bergerie is the hub of our social activities, and an ideal place to retreat from the mid-day sun. In the Bergerie we have table-tennis, table football, a library of books, videos and local information, lots of jigsaws and children's games. There is also "Tots Zone" especially for little ones with many toys specific to their age.
The pool along with all the grounds are fenced and both entrances are gated.
Note. These are all shared by the other gites.

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Charente region

Situated in the beautiful countryside of the Southern Charente on the border of Dordogne region.
The Poitou-Charentes region is second only to the French Riviera for sunshine with around 2400 hours of sunshine per year, but due to the Oceanic influence, without the high levels of humidity.
The region is famous for it's brandy houses, Cognac is about 40mins away. With all of the world's most famous producers throwing open their doors and welcoming visitors in the summer months.
Just a little further to the South you have the sublime magnificence of the Bordeaux wine region. A trip to St. Emilion always proves popular with our guests.
The Villebois-Lavalette area
The chateau is situated on the edge of the tranquil little village of Gurat (with 10th Century Gallo-Roman church, 2 bars, post office and petrol station).
Gurat lies between Villebois-Lavalette (with magnificent hilltop fortified Chateau) and Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, officially one of "les plus beaux villages de France" - the most beautiful villages of France.
Aubeterre is a perennial favorite, with its picture postcard village square and rambling streets leading down the the river beach with bustling cafes and play area.
Very popular are the many markets throughout the local area, a firm favorite is market day at Brantome or Riberac.

Guestbook for Jardin du Rose
"The Chateau is ideal, "take me as you find me, leave me as you find me" It's whatever you need it to be from the moment you enter its chalky gateways. It's somewhere to hang your wistful hat, pass time on your terms or share the simplest pleasures with like-minded souls. As an ideal and the expression of the owners, David and Nicki, the Chateau will remain reassuringly the same. All that's likely to change is you."
Mike and Liz P, Le Coin Fleuri.
"An all too brief, but memorable stay in la France profonde. David & Nicki are the perfect hosts, warm hearted and generous. We hope to come again and stay longer"
David & Liz S, Le Coin Fleuri.
"Wonderful hosts, beautiful gites and fantastic views. Angouleme - lovely place to visit, beautiful church. Great evening organised by David & Nicki on the wine tasting and an excellent opportunity to meet fellow holiday makers in the other gites. Fab time had by all - Definitely come back again"
The Hardy family, La Forge.
"Superb gites in beautiful countryside. Nicki and David have thought of everything to make us very comfortable. Villebois Lavalette's market hall is worth seeing but Brantome or St. Emilion must be visited, explored and enjoyed. We've had a marvellous time and I hope to come again - Soon"
Pat Guy, La Forge.
"Enjoyed our stay with you. Could not have been taken more care of. Every consideration given to us. Thank you so much. Needless to say the gite and scenery, etc., are exceptional."
Mrs Worth, La Forge.
