Home description
Ideal for walkers as we are on the Camino de Santiago, cyclist, bird watchers (eagles regularly swoop around the valley in front of Casa Lavender). Lots of adventure activities in the Picos de Europa which we can book in advance for you. Beautiful surfing beaches (surf hire available) with lifeguards during the summer months. World heritage churches to visit. Cathedrals and modern Gijon city to visit. Dinosaur coast with real dinosaur footprints and a museum. Cider making factories and a museum as Villaviciosa is the cider making region for the whole of Spain. Truly an outstanding area of natural beauty and as yet not touched by mass tourism.
The large and airy hallway with log burning stove gives access to the modern and spacious shower room, with extra wide level entry shower and heated towel rail. The hallway also leads to the master bedroom and the open plan lounge/kitchen/diner. This in turn gives access to the second bedroom. All areas are heated and the wide kitchen window offers fabulous views over the valley towards the estuary at Villaviciosa.

The North Spanish Coast / Asturias Province region
Asturias has a temperate climate, cooler than the south and yet typically warmer than England. It is lush and green, that's why it is called the Costa Verde and very beautiful. It is a hidden gem, a little bit of paradise. Villaviciosa is the heart of the cider making for Spain and it is not unusual to hear bagpipes, yes thats right, as Asturias has close Celtic links.
The pilgrims trail to Santiago de Compostela runs through Villaviciosa, a route that has been trodden for more than 1000 years by those wishing to visit the remains of St James the Apostle in the far west of Galicia and to top all this it has beautiful architecture in the cities of Oviedo and Gijon and sweeping sandy beaches. What more could you ask for!

Guestbook
Our first visit to Asturias and we were not disappointed. Breathtaking scenery and views – Mirador del Fito (chose a clear day to get the best views), hair raising roads, not so much other drivers as wandering cows or horses or goats or all three on a good day! Not to forget the Basilica at Covadonga. Enjoy the peace and quiet – just cow bells and birds. Thank you. Brian and Beccy Surrey
Had a lovely week. Time went by too fast. So much to see and do – we needed another week. The mountains are beautiful, the beaches are spectacular. The people are friendly, if only I had the language. Slept very well. Enjoyed the town, more to it than you first imagine, loved the fruit and the fish. Siobhan is very helpful and Matthew is a gracious host. Brendan and Teresa Co. Louth
In just one day we have seen so much and realize we have much more to do in the time we have, therefore another visit must be arranged in the not too distant future. The Lewtas Family
