The Swiss Alps / Vaud/Lake Geneva/Swiss Alps region
On the shores of Lake Geneva between the mountains of the Jura and the Alps, the canton of Vaud is the largest French-speaking region of Switzerland.In summer Lake Geneva offers a host of activities including sailing, swimming, lakeside walks or visit the many restaurants and cafes of the beautiful lakeside towns such as Montreux and Lausanne.
Throughout the year there are cultural festivals such as the Montreux Jazz Festival , Swiss Day celebrations and historical monuments such as Chateau de Chillon.
Villars, Switzerland / Barboleuse area
Villars is a true dual season resort. It is situated above the extensive vineyards of the Rhone valley. A busy town with many restaurants, hotels and shops. It is a family friendly resort which attracts guests from all over the globe as well as the local population.
The extensive skiing of Villars / Les Diablerets /Glacier 3000 covers over 220 km. There are ski schools in Villars and Gryon with English speaking instructors. Cross country skiing and snow walking is also available. There are toboggan runs for the children and open air skating rinks. Ski passes for children under the age of 9 are free.After skiing relax at the thermal baths of Bains de Lavey or visit the Christmas market in Montreux. Other ski resorts such as Verbier, the Portes du Soleil or the Gstaad valley are easy day trips.
In summer there are numerous mountain biking and hiking trails. Indulge in the authentic mountain cuisine in the many restaurants on the trails. Play tennis at the local club or swim in the mountain lakes. The well renowned Villars golf club is only a short drive away. Walk through the historic village of Gryon.Visit the salt mines in Bex deep under the mountains or view the Roman remains in Martigny. Children will love Parc Aventure and The Alpine Coaster - the world's highest bob sleigh - on Glacier 3000.
The free access card allows visitors free use of many of the local activities such as the sports centre, tennis club, ice rink, golf range,mountain transport, BVB train and local buses.
How to get there
The closest international airport is Geneva Airport (110km). There are number of airlines which fly to Geneva including British Airways, Swissair, Easyjet. and Air France.
Other close airports are Bern and Zurich.
From Geneva airport there is a regular train service to Villars via Bex.
Car hire is also available at Geneva Airport.The drive takes approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.
The drive from the Channel Tunnel, Calais, France is approximately 840km.

There are French doors from the living area leading directly onto a 3 sided balcony. The living room has a wood burning stove. The ground floor consists of 3 bedrooms, bathroom and shower room.
The house is fully equipped for holiday guests. Included are a number of toys / games for children and a collection of books and DVDs.
Further details outdoors: The chalet is situated in a quiet location with stunning mountain views. On one side of the property is a forest with a stream running through it. The meadow garden is full of wild flowers in the spring and summer.
There are tables and chairs on the terrace and balcony for outside dining and relaxing. The driveway will accommodate a number of cars.
