The Swiss Alps / Vaud/Lake Geneva/Swiss Alps region
Alpe des Chaux is a small private development in the Swiss Alps comprising some three hundred apartments and chalets, built in small hamlets in a two hundred and fifty acre estate, located in a beautiful alpine setting and surrounded by nature reserves.
At 5,115 feet, Alpe des Chaux is at an ideal altitude for summer and winter, high enough for snow but low enough for trees and vegetation. All the buildings face south with a maximum sun exposure and are designed to blend with the contours of the alpine landscape. There is a beautiful view of the Rhone Valley towards the Dents du Midi on the other side of the valley in the French Alps. Everything is very peaceful, relaxing and private but friendly.
Villars, Switzerland area
In Alpe des Chaux there are two excellent restaurants, a bar, a ski shop and a grocer’s shop. There are two hard tennis courts for summer use and two more in Gryon (7 minutes by car), where there is also a mini golf circuit. An excellent supermarket is to be found in Barboleuse (5 minutes by car).
The ski lift, which leads from the centre of Alpe des Chaux and is reached in 2 minutes on skis from the apartment, links directly with the skiing in Villars, the largest and most fashionable resort in the Canton of Vaud and is five miles away by car. There is virtually no queuing at the ski lift, even at busy times, because of the restricted parking. There are some 100 km of downhill (and several cross-country) skiing pistes with thirty eight ski lifts and slopes suitable for every standard of skier. This includes Les Diablerets ski area and the marvellous long runs on its glacier.
In the highly fashionable resort of Villars, there are ice-rinks, swimming pools, curling rinks, indoor tennis and squash courts and bowling alleys, not to mention the numerous shops and restaurants. Not far away, there are two golf courses and in the mountains above, there are seven attractively situated mountain restaurants, plus those on the Les Diablerets side.
