Further details indoors

The property (approx 100m²) is a secondary residence that has been in the Family for 30-years. It is clad on the interior with honey-coloured pine panelling surrounding the beam structure. It's Southern aspect makes it light and airy but with communal central heating and a log-fire, cozy during the winter months.

The main bedroom can be arranged with either a double or two twin beds. The second bedroom can be equiped as twin or bunk beds.

In summer, the South-facing balcony provides extra living space (sunbathing, reading, buffet meals) while the rear balcony provides significant storage for hiking gear or ski equipment.

Further details outdoors

Set in a large clearing within the forest, with a half-kilometre private access road, it is apart from the hussle and bustle of a typical mountain 'station'. Les Vernays, the name given to the specific location, is a protected natural reserve and enjoys a micro-climate. Swiss flora and fauna are in abundance. The uninterupted view over the Rhone valley to the Dents du Midi is a continually changing vista with the sun.

Further details

The appartment is still used by the owners and thus cupboards are stocked with durables on a 'use and replace' basis. A wood store is available on the same basis. A small library of books, cassettes, CDs and DVDs is provided.

Bed linen and towels are available at an extra charge of CHF25/person.

The Swiss Alps region

In the opinion of the writer, the Canton of Vaud mixes the best of Switzerland - a melange of the structured Germanic approach of the German-speaking region and the informal Latin approach of Ticino (South of the Alps).

In winter, the ski-pass gives access to a full range of pursuits covering a 100km of runs from Villars-sur-Ollon to Les Diablerets. In summer, as well as many Alpine walks and mountain-bike trails, the chalet's location provides access to Lac Léman (Lake Geneva) for sailing, fishing, swimming or just a gentle cruise on the paddle-steamer fleet. It also opens the door to many local vineyards, the salt mines of Bex and the Chateau of Aigle and Chateau Chillon.

Being centrally placed, excursions to France, Italy and Germany are at a resident's disposal

Villars, Switzerland

Villars-sur-Ollon (5km) is a well-known mountain station, but further afield the conurbations or Montreux (45km), Lausanne (65 km), Martingy (35km) provide cultural and commercial havens where museums, art galeries, sporting fixtures and shopping may be found in abundance.

"A stay at the mountains with stunning view and clean air"

"Everything you need and more"

I've been renting this place since 2001, I first went there during the winter. The ski resort is fabulous, everybody from different skills can enjoy it!
Villars is a really cute place, the choice of quality restaurants is enough, there's every shop you would need. Not far from Villars are the Thermes from Lavey les Bain which proposes an outside warm pool with an incredible view on the mountains. I went the when it was snowy and it was like a dream.
The appartment chalet is really comfortable and offers flexibility in terms of beds. There's an open fire which works! It's enough close to the pists to get there by skis. There's also an terrace! You'll say whatever, but to be honest I like it as even more during the summer, the view on the mountains, the walks you can do from the appartment, the mountain bikes you can rent...Guess what, I'm a fan ;)

"Very pleasant and quiet place."

After a long travel from Belgium we were so happy to find a quiet place with only the birds noise in front of a magnificient landscape. No telephone, no TV.... wonderful!
Space is plenty enough for 2 adults with 3 children.
There is also a big terrace.
One thing missing internet! But you can go in an hotel buy an internet card while drinking something.
There are some nice place for food around the place and Barboleuze or Villars are not far away.
For your info take the "pass" which is not very expense and you can get the bus, train/ crémaillère, téléphérique during the summer and go from Bex to Bretaye or to Les Diablerets.
Thank you.
