Lake Geneva Region offers a wide range of activities available, there is something for everyone. Mountain biking, parapenting, gliding, golf, horse-riding, swimming, water-parks, mountain walking, hot air ballooning, ski on the glacier in summer or visit the superb shops, museums and gallerys in nearby Montreux and Lausanne. Winter offers some picturesque ski slopes to try out your skills with skiing, boarding or perhaps cross country skiing, husky dog sledging, snow trekking to mention a few.The region surely offers plenty for all, all year around.
Villars, Switzerland / Villars Village area
Villars is reknown as one of the best Swiss resorts for families all year round. The resort has many facilities including, indoor swimming pool, bowling alley, ice rink, mini golf, tennis courts (indoor & out), 18 hole golf course, wellness centre, fitness centre and a new cinema.
Throughout the year, a great number of events are held in Villars:- golf and tennis tournaments, ski championships, walking or mountain bike races and an ice skating galas. There are traditional folklore and classical music festivals, in particular the "Classiques de Villars", and the famous concerts in Gryon.
The Villar-Gryon ski area has 30 lifts with 120 km of runs with snowboard piste, snow park, half pipe. Ski schools cater for, snowboard school, children's ski school, ski kindergarten. In addition the Les Diablerets glacier area (3000m) has 44 km of high altitude pistes.
How to get there
Fly to Geneva, Villar-sur-Ollon is approx 90 minutes drive (110km) from Geneva or 90 minutes by train from Geneva Airport to Aigle, then take either an hourly bus or taxi from Aigle train station to Villars for the remainder of the 14km journey. Flights available from Easyjet (Luton, Stanstead & Gatwick) , Swiss Air (London City), FlyBe (Southampton) and British Airways (Heathrow).
