Fontana Golf is a well laid out, compact new building of 28 units in a cul-de sac in a quiet and friendly neighbourhood. It is a short distance from the busy and crowded coastal strip while still having easy access to several fine beaches within 15 minutes drive going either to the south or north side on the main road to and from the coast. The local bus runs on this loop road which passes the short cul-de-sac. Nearby there is a large supermarket, other local shops, and a good choice of restaurants, cafes, bars and english pubs all only 5 to 10 minutes walk. The apartment is on the second floor with the lift and stairs right by its door. The on site swimming pool that has a circular shallow children's pool/adults seating area in the walled communal garden is just down the lift/stairs; perfect for those lazy sunny days. The apartment generally contains good quality furniture, linen and fittings and with the light marble effect tiled floor throughout and other decorative touches has a pleasing, uncluttered but homely appearance. 20 minutes drive away is the thriving cosmopolitan town of Torrevieja. Active golfers can try the several varied and scenic courses in the area - the apartment is in-between and very close to 3 of them.. Secure car parking in the basement with lift.

The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region

The Costa Blanca is more than wonderful beaches of fine white sand but also has historic towns, pine forest, barren mountains with little used roads, and several fine golf courses. Cycle hire with delivery and colection service can be obtained, and pony riding schools can be joined. Also just inland and easy to get to (within 20 minutes straightforward drive) is San Miguel. This is a typically inward looking spanish small town with narrow streets and a pleasant central plaza in front of the church. There are cafes where you can relax and enjoy a mid-morning coffee and pastry. The shallow "inland sea" of The Mar Menor with its warm water and teeming fish life (like the mediterranean only more so) is a short drive to the south where you can enjoy all kinds of watersports, or for the sake of your health take a mud bath!

Villamartin / Las Filipinas area

Las Filipinas is an established distinct community of varied homes and villas with its own group of local shops, banks, bars, restaurants and cafes situated on the higher ground just off the coast overlooking Torrevieja town closeby to the north, and La Manga and The Mar Menor to the south. In between on this part of the southern Costa Blanca there are many beautiful beaches as well as rocky coves. All along the main road coastal strip there are loads of restaurants and shops (but you have to be aware of the spanish afternoon siesta!). Lively Villamartin central plaza is close nearby - a few minutes by car. The urban area ends at Las Filipinas giving way to open country where oranges and lemons are grown. A drive inland past San Miguel could take in shopping and sightseeing in Orihuela (40 minutes away), or Murcia - the historic main town of the region. To really get away from it all take the little-used roads through the mountains - barren except for the occasional isolated finca and almond tree plantations.

How to get there

A choice of budget airlines fly to Alicante and/or San Javier e.g. Easyjet. Thomsonfly, Monarch, Ryanair.
The apartment is between the two airports, 60km from Alicante and 40km from San Javier.
Car hire is easy to do with several car hire firms based &/or have offices in the airports. e.g. Record Rent A Car, Centauro, Auriga, Europa and others.
Alternatively a taxi will take you to the apartment costing 40 or 45 euros.- the route along the good coast roads is done regularly.
There is a bus service from El Altet airport to Alicante bus station (about 1.30 euros) and a coastal bus to La Zenia (about 8 euros).
Private transfers from and to the airport can be provided.

The sliding windows of the lounge lead onto a large balcony where you can dine al fresco at the patio table and chairs, or relax on the lounger. In the main bedroom there are sliding window/doors to a second small balcony giving a view over the undulating land with casas and holiday homes. The lounge stays cool during the hot weather, a ceiling fan is on the main bedroom and there are free-standing convector heater/ fan heaters in all rooms. Large fitted wardrobes with drawer units are in both bedrooms.

Airport transfers can be arranged costing 25 euros from Murcia, 40 euros from Alicante in peoples' carrier comfortably taking 4 plus luggage.
A private taxi is available immediately from the apartments.
